I have this pattern now and have to make it! Every time i see it, I love it even more!!!
I love this and made it for my Grand Daughter many years ago.
I love your jewel box! How did you see your pieces together? The instructions show a solid seam attaching them together, but you were able to keep both? Thank you!
Welcome to Cute :)
Well I used a transparent nylon thread or wire to stitch the edges togeher using a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine!
Dont forget to lock at the edges :)
Thanks a lot!
Beautiful!..I knew I was behind on news and project looking but I went through about 10 pages to find this. Well done!...can you insert your hand in the opening or just shake the items out? It looks small but still beautiful.
Thank you so much Toogie...for appreciating as well as making an effort to have a look :)
It is big enough to put my hand in easily....nice to keep some jewellery!
Amazing and a real challenge to do it, thanks a lot!!!
I LOVE this where did you get it?!?! My Aunt & Uncle would LOVE this!! I would make it from Organza or Tulle then insert batter operated tealights for a very cute decor effect. I bet they would use it for a table setting with some of their exchange students. TY for sharing would love to have this!
Thanks a lot dear for appreciating and thats a pretty good idea!do share with us when you make one :)
Fatima had put the URL further down the page in another reply. Go right to the bottom of the page and download it from there. Good luck with it all. Love Chris

- Maureen
Welcome to Cute Maureen :) thanks a lot for appreciating dear!
I would love to do that but the instructions with the design itself are great and easy to follow!
I hope you all will enjoy making this :)
This is beautiful!! Where did you find the pattern? I would love to make one of these for my daughter!
This has come up beautiful. A friends daughter is getting married in a couple of weeks and after seeing this I think I might just pluck up the courage to try in in her wedding theme colours.
What fabric did you use on the outside?
Thank you so much :) and thats a great idea! Go ahead and try it!
I just used something I had and I guess its some cotton silk kind of material....it is a bit stiff and was no trouble to sew ! You can use any fabric which isnt too fine and better use the closest match for the fleece lining inside! Although the instructions said to use white good that I used red....its barely visible! Good luck and do share when you make one :)
wow ! lovely and lovely project. I could put my pearls in there. Ready to wear at a moments notice and on top of my dresser. The red fabric gives a Chinese flail. Kay
Great work. I love the design. Thank you very much for sharing and the link. Amitiés de France.
hi this is so beautiful can u tell me the link i would like to make one for my daughter thank u
This is beautiful. Thanks for the link. Love that it is free. I would love to make one but I don't know when as my machine is verrrry sick at the moment and the tech Dr. says he does not like the sound of it and may have to write it off. That would not be a bad thing as I have had problems with it ever since new, Would be a good excuse to update to perhaps the Janome 15000. I do have my 11000 covered by insurance, but I don't know how much they would pay out.
My sister used to make boxes like these from birthday and Christmas cards many years ago. She advertised in the Womens Weekly here in Australia for used cards and was inundated with parcels. The local Post Office wondered what was going on as they could not deliver all the parcels and BIL had to go into town to pick them up. She had one big room literally covered 2 - 3 feet deep. Those were the days....Hugs Shirley
Thank you Shirley :) i hope you get your machine back soon.....or even better maybe a brand new 15000 ;)
Beautiful work. If you know your thread is good then try a sharp needle. Slow the machine down. You can also vary the way you stabilize. I have not done this design so I don't know what is required.
Just by looking I think I would use stiffy felt and sticky vilene .
Hoop the viliene taut. Lay stiffened fabric on top. Under hoop a layer of stiffy felt and your outer fabric. I would also use the same thread in the bobbin as your top thread. Try this on the bottom piece and see if it helps. Great looking to me though.
Thank you dear and thanks for all the suggestions :)
Actually this had no use if stabilizer at all! I followed the instructions as they were given....it was a layer of fleece sandwiched between two layers of fabric...hooped together! I think the thread kept breaking because of the fleece lining inside....maybe....but it was ok....just a few times is still acceptable :)
I did run the machine on a lower speed ! But the end result was worth for me to handle a little thread breaks here and there...lol!
That's absolutely beautiful, you have done a great job!
Hugs, Lidia
This is sooo pretty! May I ask where u got the pattern for this?
Very attractive. May I ask , what do you plan to use it for?
Hahaha :)....good question! Its another addition in my display shelf along with all my other FSL stuff! Thanks a lot!
Does that mean we are supposed to have a purpose for everything we make? If that is the case, I am in BIG trouble!
Thanks for posting so many views of your box. It's really nice to see all the little details. With my old slow machine, it would probably take forever, but you have the perserverance to stick with it and get it done! What a fantastic project!
You are so welcome :) you do give it a try....i hope you will find it worth the time!
Thank you so much for appreciating :)
This is beautiful, elegant to say the least. Do I dare ask what website you found it on? You did such a tremendous job not only on the embroidery but also piecing it together. WOW

This will be a lovely gift and I am sure the girls would love it if you make it in their favourite colours!
Thank you so much :)
Lovely, I've been thinking of doing some embroidery in hexagon shapes for a quilt and you have shown that it is a great concept!
Welcome to Cute! :) thank you so much. ...I see that its your first comment here on this site...am I right?
Looks stunning in red and gold.
Shortly after the war, I must have been 7 or 8, my aunt made me one like this in cardboard.Cream wallpaper decorated with fairy tale figures, a red buttonhole stitch around the panels, then whipstitched together. I loved it, was so proud of it and kept it till I got married some 18 years later. Your project brought back very nice memories, thank you!
Aaaawwww how sweet of you to share your memories with us.....i m so glad my project took you back to the happy memorable times of your life :) this is what i love and appreciate about all Cuties.....you all are such sweet sweet people!
