Good morning Cuties, I think I want to finally order the Kam snaps and pliers. I remember Bev said she got the snaps from Goldstar, but what size do you get, please? I get confused if the larger the # the smaller the size or vice-versa. Where is the best place to get the pliers from? If I remember rightly, she didn't get the pliers from Goldstar. Anybody bought any lately?-thanks-Toogie

I use the size 20 for everything. I ordered from I Love Big Buttons (they had the best deal between kam snaps and amazon and big buttons). I ordered it as a set with the pliers, some snaps, the awl, and the screwdriver. I LOVE them!

it comes with the pliers, small screwdriver and awl ,the screwdriver is to change the die if you want to change snap size, you'll get the 4 dies for different size snaps. Very easy to do

I'm so glad you asked this question. I looked up the Kam snaps too and got confused. Hopefully now I will be brave (and smart enough) to order them.

I bought my KAM snaps and pliers from Amazon ages ago - I use size 20 (T5). I use the pliers without any problems. I have always had problems attaching snaps in the past - but, not so with KAM. I have my snaps separated by color in little zip lock bags that I labeled. I wish I had these years ago!! Good luck! Laura*

Did you get the colors mixed or what colors do you use most, if bought separately?

dailylaundry by dailylaundry 13 Apr 2015

Toogie, I first bought a set of different colors and the pliers. Since them I have purchased other colors of snaps. With the lovely bibs you make - you should decide on either bold or pastel colors. You will love these and they are not hard to use at all!! Once you use them - you add colors!!

you can also buy the pastel coloured snaps from Joann's & they have tiny little embossed butterflies & other things on them really sweet! They are in the Babyville Boutique section & reasonably priced with coupons!

From Goldstar tools I order the #20 snaps and they do have the pliers for 12.99 and everything is the US is free shipping, These are not the kam brand but a generic brand but at a much better price and works for me. Also they ship very fast, If you want to pay more for the kam brand check on Amazon

Hi Bev, I thought you had gotten your pliers ebay..but if you recommend the ones from Goldstar, I'll take your advice. What colors do you most use? Thanks again

I had lots of the regular metal snaps but I thought I may try these. I hope they are stronger enough for Avery's bibs.

They are super & work well for my sil's bibs!

I have the big manual Kam press and have just converted it to a foot press. I also have the pliers, but find it very hard on my arthritic hands to squeeze the pliers too often. I use both the #16 (also known as T3 which are smaller) and the #20 also known as T5 which are larger) snaps. The #16 snaps have shorter stems, so if you need to go through many layers you either have to buy the long stem #16 snaps (which can be hard to find in assorted colors) or the #20 snaps, which come with larger stems. Check out kamsnaps.com they have a lot of information about the different sized snaps and presses. Hope this helps. PS - here's a picture of my newly converted press (and little Boo helper). Vida

WOW ! You must work with snaps a lot!!!! This is a great invention, did hubby make? They had some mounted ones at the sewing factory. I will most likely get the pliers as I have the perfect mount for them..a husband.-lol-I can't use the hand one either, but he can!

spendlove by spendlove 13 Apr 2015

Fabulous - I only have the pliers. I think my snaps are size 14.

wider57- Curiosity killed the cat, what all do you put so many snaps on? What colors do you use most of?

wider57 by wider57 13 Apr 2015

I have been making keychains and zipper pulls like crazy lately and put snaps on them all. (I have about 500 ready to be 'snapped'.) I use a variety of colors, but black and white are the ones I use for most projects. I use snaps instead of velcro on all my projects. I'll post some pics of the chemo shirts I made for hubby today.

I'd like to see your zipper pulls too, and/ or the keychains, but the zipper pulls intrigue me.
