This looks so good and the design is intricate - wow!
I have a friend who thought she would go into business with her long arm and turned out not to enjoy using it at all. That's a LOT of money to find out you don't like it. There is a long learning curve with them. I had to pick out 2 whole lines that went around the outer border and I swear the stitches were at least 25 to the inch. I never have gotten back to that quilt come to think of it ....
Love the fabric with the babies on it. I have not seen this book. Could you explain a little more in depth what you're doing? Is it just a lot of rehooping quilting designs?
I just checked out the videos Carolyn. This is very similar To what I did with the San Francisco Stitch Co quilt I made. I have a long arm and I hardly ever use it. It is something you need to practice on a regular basis to be really good at unless you have a stitch regulator which again adds to the price tag. This is another reason I just bought my dream Machine with the large hoop. Not to mention I can draw a quilting design scan it into the machine and it will embroider the design for me. My goodness our machines have come a long way. I much prefer the precision of the embroidery machine to my long arm. Keep practicing and save your money for more embroidery designs. Hugs, Susan
It is wonderful and very nice . great work Hugs stella
You have done a wonderful job, Carolyn, love it!
Hugs, Lidia
Wow!! Looks great to me. Nice to know that we have options. I can hardly wait to have my sewing room back again!! :-(
Hugs, Nadyne
Excellent! I think that would be the way I would go. I have thought about it a bit.
How to use your normal sewingmachine as a longarm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d...
Perhaps this is something for you?
Says in the video that you should use a watersoluble marker. Learned for a quiltlady. You should use a chalk to mark. I have a german Kreideminen-Set. Because if you take your quilt on an airplane it is stored cold and eaven if you think you have washed the colour away it comes back when cold. This lady was going to an exibiation with her quilt. Not fun to see when she opened her quilt. All marks where back. Quilt totaly ruined
yes i use that maker for years now and i also have markers thanks for putting this here for others to see hugs carolyn
These look really good! I think you did a great job on them.
It takes a while to "get it" on the long-arm, too, I am told. If you decide to buy one, talk, talk, talk to anyone who owns one and find out what features you want, brand, etc. I have a good friend who has one you could talk to by email - she loves hers but added LED lamps 2-3 places for better view.
Great idea I am intrigued with this may have to look into it myself.
Wow my friend. Always into something new aren't you. This looks like something I would like to learn also. Get real good so you can teach me/Lillian
The brown runner /curtain for son is the second design in her pack.Did you see it??Hugs
This is such a great idea, Carolyn! Much better and probably quicker than my old method of tracing continuous line designs on tissue operandi then Freemotion quilting them and then having to tear away the tissue paper! Now you don't need that big ole long arm machine - LOL. (Have to admit I always wanted one of of those too but no where to put it and not enough money to buy it!). Hugs!
Wow, thanks for the idea. Looks great. I looked the book up and it doesn't look like it's still being printed. It's still available from a couple of places though. I like the idea, I can't afford a long arm either!
Carolyn, what is there that you CAN"T do????????
The quilt is just wonderful. Love the little designs in the quilting.
Well, I'd say you mastered that techique well! It looks very nice! I just got a "sit down" quilting machine to handle bigger quilts and I don't have the room for a stand up long arm, but it is all free motion quilting. I think the results you got from your sewing machine is much better than what I can achieve on my quilting machine.
This looks especially good for your first try! Did you find the book worth buying? I've done some small projects but have yet to tackle a full quilt .
Oh Carolyn, I love the little ducks and baby bottles. So you are doing this on your embroidery machine? I know your hoop is a larger size.
