I now have a Babylock Elllisimo gold 2 and I am using the same thread and bobbin thread that I was using in my Janome - lucky me!

I am convinced machines have likes & dislikes - just like us. I can use anything on my machine. My friends machine spits out Sulky - same machine just different personalities.

Yes, you have to get to know your own machine and what it's personality is like. They are pretty sturdy and will let you know what it doesn't like! I have a dog like that...

I've had an Ellegante for 9 years. I use pre-wound bobbins (Nebs) and have never had an issue. You are right, the dealer and sales people want to make money so I'm glad you experimented and found a way that works for you. I hope you love your Ellegante as much as I love mine.

I am glad you found a good solution. It is awful to have to spend money needlessly when there is an alternative out there. Thank goodness for the cuties. :)

Unless I need the same color on the bobbin, I use overlock thread. Haven't had a problem so far.

I do that too, but it is more linty than a good bobbin thread. So be sure to clean the bobbin area frequently!

These machines are very persnickety sometimes. Mine reminds me of the Princess and the Pea story.
I'm glad you found some other thread yours will tolerate.

I had a ellegante for 5 years, I could only use finishing touch bobbin thread. Good Luck!

The Janome machines I've had have been very fussy and Janome bobbin thread is extremely expensive. I experimented and found that overlocker thread worked well. My new machine (another Janome) has an extra bobbin case set up for " non Janome bobbin thread" which I haven't tried yet.

My Janome's weren't fussy. I could use anything in them without problems. The bobbin thread I have - I wind my own - was a large cone I got at a dealer's (wasn't even a Janome dealer - just a place I went to as the Janome dealer was already closed for the day) and I have no idea what brand it is - lol. (I had just found out about bobbin thread 0 hadn't known there was such a thing.)

Each machine has its own quirky personality. I'm glad you saved a fortune.
