Would look lovely on a head band(with one sheep in black )I'm black sheep of the family..ha Ha!! Do women my age still wear head bands?? I DO!! My neighbor is 101 today. So I'm a kid next to her.
Before ME I used them a lot. I still have stitch-outs of them for the different machines I owned. I do use them occasionally on items that also have embroidery on them and just yesterday I finished a small purse with those decorative stitches and a piece of lace as my embroidery machine was having fits. I might add a picture later, when using my PC instead of the iPad I am working on now.
I have used the decorative stitches on crazy quilts and Christmas stockings. One of my machines has a heart stitch. I stitched single hearts rather than a whole row of them. I used the single hearts as if I were tying a quilt.
I have never used any of the in built abilities of my brother pr-600 machine or any of my machines, but this is because I keep a file of everything I stitch out, for repeat custom or just future reference, I'm just interested in the embroidery size field, and a good light, love the multi needle as saves me a lot of time changing threads too, big hugs xx
Sue this is one for you to perfect. Mine is pretty rough, not done using the embr. unit. Idea from a magazine [can't remember which]. The balls were all satin-type fabrics. I had to make it quickly for a Xmas raffle, but I doubt I could have done it any better really without having it all digitized. Permission to use the idea, just make it a bit different so the magazine copyright is not breached.
well done! I like to think of the decorative stitches as extra trim work & use them where ever I could have used a purchased trim. When I do the pillowcases for example the little white trim on everyone of them is made to float & I am not a fan so stich with decorative stitches here most of the time. An added detail that makes it nicer ~hugs~
I used mine for learning how the machine worked. My mother used them to finish off items, of clothing as top stitching or just general trim on a jacket, blouse or skirt. Some were quite pretty. I've never seen this one it's cute. Congrats on you newest family member.
I rarely ever use them, but feel like I should try to use them more.
I use mine where the stitching will show. I recently made a cushion cover, but I didn't like the plain back, so I stitched a few lines of different pretty stitches around the big buttonhole.
The front is patchwork with an embroidery design in the centre.
I used the alphabets to label the tShirts in our house as four adults wearing two sizes of clothes tended to become confusing at folding time. My tShirts had a pretty bow or something on the neckline while the fellas had their names stitched on the hem line in a matching colour thread. You had to feel for the name before you could read it (as they blended n well) that was so that it wouldn't embarrass the young ones when out with their friends.
They are also great if you are making anything in the style of Crazy Patchwork.
Twin needling with some of them looks good too. The computer in the machine takes all the 'guesswork' out of doing that. As you may gather, I have been doing that for over 30 years and have broken a few needles when using the 'wrong' stitch for twin needles on my older mechanical machine. Now, the computer just adjusts the stitch!
I use the alphabets, but I have to be honest, I used the built in designs to learn how to use the machine and seldom look at them now. I do love the Character stitches and will often use them to dress up a hem or the handles of a bag.
This is so adorable. Could be used to decorate many children's items. My machine has different menus containing various categories of decorative stitches (child/infant, holiday, traditional/classic, quilting, candlewick & many more). I've used some for borders and improving seams where a small amount of decoration is just what's needed.
Ba ba very sweet. Reminds me of the New Home machines of our youth that had many designs that were similar. Like rows of swimming ducks and Christmas trees. I do like the sheep. My Galaxie 3000 has many designs but not as pretty as this and I have not used many. The last I used were on the bottom of the lining of the dress I made for Catrin to hide the fact that there was a join in the fabric.
