let me back up then....ok so the quilt will be 1 1/4 yd in length. the designs take about 46 minutes each....i am making a list of the fabric cost...i just don't know what to charge for my time. 1 lady paid me 80.00 a couple of years ago. she now wants another one for the new grandchild. however the other lady is an extended family member on my sisters side....family but not family i guess.
Being in the UK I cant help with a cost but work out exactly how much the fabric, thread etc cost to make to quilt. Its very easy to underestimate ones costs. Then there is the time element... but do make sure you sort out the initial costs.
Gosh, so many variables here...how much did the fabric, batting, thread, designs, etc. cost, How big is the "baby" quilt...How much time does each design take to stitch out....How much is your time worth...you will probably never get your time compensated for or it would be "priceless"....if it were a friend of mine, I would probably just make the baby quilt and give it to her as the baby gift...
there are 2 ladies and then if i gave one and not the other, then there would be hurt feeling. not extremely close friends but more co-worker of long ime.
I have sold baby quilts with 9 4x4 designs for $75-$100. All cotton with puffy batting. Depends on what you pay for the fabric. I hope that this helps. ~hugs~
This is a difficult question to answer. How long does it take to stitch out the designs? How big will the finished quilt be? How much would the fabric/batting cost? Will others at work expect you to make them a quilt for the same price as you charge your friend? If she was my good friend, I'd just charge the actual expense of the raw materials. If not, $10 per design plus $5 per square foot.
oooh that would make it 90.00 for the designs and 45.00 for the footage. love to get that then, doubt one would pay it though. thank you for your answers...
