I've had this box waiting "the treatment" for a while. It is just under 25cm square. My 230mm square hoop was just big enough to fit the balsa sheets in and stitch this design from Urban Threads.

The box had contained a Sachertorte which had been given to my daughters office by a client.

What a lovely project, is it difficult to embroider on balsa. I have not tried any thing like this but would like to have a go. Any special needle and thickness of balsa wood . Interested to hear of your expereince with this. Congraulations a great job well done. Sandra

The needle goes through the balsa easier than some fabrics! It just slips between the fibres.

I've heard of doing this, it is very beautiful, love the simple floral design. Does it require a different type of needle or thread? Amazing that one can embroidery on wood without splitting it. Beautiful.

Nothing special required. The design shouldn't have too many small stitches. This design "dug in" a bit in places.

The sheets were 1.5mm thick. and 75mm wide. I stick them to the stabiliser with glue stick pushing them together so that the join is (mostly) invisible.
