I have done them both & mom's seem to like them both lol sorry I am not much help but they do use them all the time so a nice handy thing to have around. I have even made them peanut shaped with 2 pcs of flannel but there in lies the only complaint. They say that the plain flannel are too thin for spit up so I was lining with warm & natural but Like Kim when you make many the diapers work really well & are much quicker too. ~hugs~
I do the rounded corners, embroider a cute saying on one end, sew the front and back together leaving a small opening to turn, whip stitch the opening shut and do a 1/4 inch seam around to hold the front and back together. Have sold more than I can count and have to make a couple of dozen more before our next craft sale. I use pre-washed flannel for both sides, one side plain and the other a cute print. Hope this helps.
Well, I just use the cloth diapers for mine...I usually make them with the scraps left over from the baby quilt...
It really depends on the baby i think.
No grands here but hopefully this might help from a Mums point of view.
I made and preferred the plain rectangular ones for my babies. I used mine for so many different tasks even cleaning my little ones up after they were learning to feed themselves. I also prefer it when Things have multiple uses as it saves on storage. The rectangular ones also folded neatly away.
I was gifted a some pretty kidney shaped ones but found their use limited to burping a very young baby only. My youngest suffered from terrible reflux so anything smaller than a tea towel was useless. I also found towelling was best for my reflux bub as flannel didn't catch anything. The ones that have flannel one side and towelling the other offer the best for most babies.
Here is a link to one I really like. Give it a try. Hugs. Nan W
