Hi Lor...Depending upon the density of the design, I would just use tear-away....if a dense design I would use no-show mesh...
thanks so much Kim. I took the labels off to use some of what I have on another project so now I don't know which is which?
If you can tear it, it's a tearaway, if not a cutaway Cut a small piece and put in water to see if it's a wss. Hold it up to the light. If you can see a shiny glue surface on either side, it's an iron on. The weight of each product is more diffiult
If you have cutaway handy this cut the same size as the block works well, it gives an extra layer of warmth I find. Are you doing a quilt as you go method or a normal pieced top, this would make a difference to your decision..
I generally use tear away under most the designs I stitch for quilts for our NICU. I hoop my tear away, run my basting stitch, lay down the fabric centered for the design placement then run the basting line a second time to hold the fabric, stitch out the design etc. Fusible would also work, it is just more expensive than plain tear away so I tend to save my fusible for knits. I have used most types of batting at one time, or the other, using these methods. Look forward to seeing the quilt you make! Pam
the only thing I have in fusible is not wide enough for the quilt block. Tear away sounds like a good option to leave in.........thanks Pam.
