FSL? I was out of the WSS except for scraps so I glued together as shown in the video. The pattern started off great & now the thread just doesn't catch to bobbin thread. Wrong wt even if doubled?

Does anyone have experience with taking a United States Singer embroidery machine to a tropical area (Brazil). Singer doesn't advise but didn't say why. I would love to know so I don't damage mine
