I have windows 7 and suddenly my ped basic gets "MFC application has stopped working". I tried everything Brother said to do. Nothing worked. Has anyone else had this problem?

My Brother SE-270D tells me that the card is not right one for it, but it is the card I have used for 2 years. I did not drop it. Any idea why it suddenly is not recognized by the machine?
