Cross stitch design As much as we hate to be seen as just regional costumes and wooden shoes, as well as Delft blue, tulips and windmills, we embrace it as soon as tourism is concerned. Even the postal office issued a stamp 2 years ago. So here
Cross stitch mug rug - or not. Last week when sorting out a cupboard I came across a small embroidery I made 70 years ago. The design was printed on the linen, I did not like the gaps between the crosses then and still don't, but my mother insiste
Mug rug. I used my ginkgo design to make an ITH mug rug. I used variegated thread for the leaves; not too happy with the top left one, the ombré type threads are much nicer.
Baby bib. Had to make a gift for a newborn baby - born on my birthday - and used a few items on the announcement card to make this embroidery. I did not have the right font and did not want to spend time digitising that. Anyway, a different fond wa
Design for Maryze. I was asked to embroider a baby bathrobe with a name and 'something extra'. So I digitised something that resembled the design on the birth-announcement. Client wanted the name in pink, thus the change in colours. Tested it
As I promised Vicky I stitched the flower on a very thin fabric. It is slippery and synthetic, but I did not have a better fabric other than cutting a pair of nets in the bedroom which seemed a bit drastic. The stitching is fabulous when done direc
3D Flower I saw so may 3D flowers posted I could not resist digitising one. They are now 100% (which was 96 mm), 75% and 50%, which I changed after testing to 100%, 80% and 60%. I stitched the larger one after I had done the smaller ones in
Another guest towel. I was playing with parts of a design I made 5 years ago (one of the "stencil ornaments") to make an overall design for my largest hoop. To test it I used part of it, just right for a border. What better way to test the effect
Ginkgo leaves on hand towel, guest towel and wash mitt. I digitised two leaves. One has the parallel veins the ginkgo has, the other has branched veins, which makes a more interesting design. Wonder what you think. I copy and pasted, resized
Mug rug. Tested a new one and made quite a few variations: filled or red work design; stippled, parallel lines or cross hatched; with borders strips. I'll have a go at those after the weekend - my gift drawer is getter nicely filled!
Mug rugs - again. Had a bit of time today so tested these two. Have yet to close the opening by hand. Have quit a few left.
Two more mug rugs. Although I attached the borders of the mug rug in picture 1 ITH, I actually folded them over and hand stitched them at the back creating a border there as well. I did that as I wanted to quilt the backing fabric as well.
Two mug rugs for 5x7 hoop. I had not touched my embroidery machine for a couple of weeks, but I did digitise quite a few things. So today I tested two mug rugs. I dyed the yellow cotton a few years ago, with less skill than I hoped for at the time
Easter mug rug. Made another one. After stitching I tweaked it a bit and made the outside border the same width horizontally and vertically. Always a pity your nicely ironed fabrics look so crinkled after turning the thing right side out. And I
Easter mugrug Sometime ago I digitised two designs for someone and as a thank you present I got amongst other things two mugrugs with the design on it. I was so happy with those gifts. I liked the general design of her mugrugs and digitised a nu
