This is an idea I've been doodling today. A friend asked me to design a banner for her grand-daughter's christening and I came up with a simple flower unit for each letter, suggesting they were fixed to a green ribbon - like a daisy chain. Then I wonder
On Saturday morning I awoke to find a message from Bev (in Texas) with a link to this design which she thought I would like. I followed the link (to Australia) and bought the design. The cushion was made (in England) by lunchtime. Isn't the internet gre
My J-club ladies will soon be asking for things to make for Christmas so I doodled a few ideas while I was on holiday. This little chap takes about 3 minutes to stitch and a lot longer to cut out, but I rather like him. I tried to make a moulded chocolate
Update - she has now had a facelift and a hat lowering. There is a bit more hat to roll back now which isn't quite so easy, but now her hair shows better! For the asleep picture I took the hat right back. This is a double sided pocket doll I ha
I've been trying to work out the engineering for an ITH purse with the zip in the top for a couple of years. This one is my most successful so far - done in two hoopings. The third picture is of the inside of the zip, and the fourth is of the whole pu
I needed a new peg bag - so an excuse for a play instead of "jobs".
Now she is finished, I think Melissa Mouse deserves a new thread! She now has no visible bits of stabiliser and none needed removing. Her tail is twisted knitting yarn because I thought a felt one would be too bulky and prevent her from sitting nicely.
For a while I've been wondering about making ITH animals in felt with blanket stitched edges to look as if they were handmade. I've had time to play a bit today. I hadn't considered the faf of picking the stabiliser our from the underside of each piece
This is a sensory quilt (AKA Fiddle quilt) for a dementia sufferer. I played around with some simple ITH blocks, adding bits and pieces as I went along. Those not visible include a crumpled crisp packet, a string of beads and a squeaker. I've used a vari
This has kept me busy for the last few days! I made 13 of the individual blocks as if they were intended to be pincushions. They are hand stitched together (mattress stitch.) Of course there had to be a purse to match. I have included a picture of the
UPDATE! Here is the bigger version. Unfortunately the new Kam Snaps which the postman brought today, are not long pronged so these popped off as soon as I unfastened it from round my wrist. Glad I only risked one! I wondered if it was possib
Tiny patchwork pincushions - I've been playing with my ITH quilt blocks and wondered what they would look like 100mm square. Here are two of them!
A birthday gift for a friend. When I saw this design at Embroidery Library, I thought it would be perfect for so many of my friends!
Little felt ukuleles for my ukulele band members to wear in their hats. So much quieter than the real thing!
Espadrilles - third time lucky! I made the upper in the hoop (the embroidery design is from the Urban Threads mexican folkart set). It is then hand stitched to the rope soles. They fit me rather well.
