Froggy went a courting.... I've just realised that these purses are just right to use as a compact camera case.
Latest purse design- Yoriko tells me that they are still popular so I can't resist! This one is fastened with Velcro although I'm afraid it has to be stitched on by hand.
I bought this gorgeous fabric at the Sewing For Pleasure show last week (egged on by my companions.) It is a thick woollen base and the swirls are yarns which have been felted in. It was very tricky to sew, particularly sewing the collar on through severa
Some hand cross stitch. The family tree is for my family. I started with my grandparents in the roots, then my parents in the trunk, then the other layers work up to the great grandchildren. There would have to be a lot of additions if I were to update
A grown up purse for a change. This one is in 3 sizes with optional top stitching. The design is intended to use up scraps of fabric. The black one is for 130x180, the pink one 140x200 and the lovely purple one is for 160x260. The latter kindly tested for
Dolphin Purse. This one went through a few incarnations before I was happy with it! I used a magnetic closure for a change,
Here is a spring lamb purse - now on Yoriko's site. Many thanks to rescuer for testing this design and helping me to iron out a few problems. That black button will have to go!
Case for I-phone 4s. Made entirely in the hoop using furnishing fabric from a sample book. I searched for a suitable button at the Sewing for Pleasure show yesterday! The fabric in the background is another of my purchases.
Same design - two colour ways. The one on the right is my yest stitch for the design. I'd used linen fabric so I fringed the edges and appliqued it to a denim cushion cover. (Rather bluer than the picture shows.) So I thought I'd try the design in shade
Still more purses. I thought we'd better have an Easter Bunny - this one is a bit dopey after the winter. The monkey is just cheeky. Two hoopings for the Bunny, just one for the Monkey.
Fed up of purses yet? I added a step to the basic design to include a woven ribbon flap.
"Hearts and flowers" cross stitch "samplers". The larger one is going to be the centre of a cushion and the smaller one will be framed.
Teddy bear purse. Last one for a while as I'm running out of ideas!
Hardanger sampler - I've done some more work on my Hardanger design. It is 200mm square and stitched in 10 wt cotton thread on a very open weave fabric. I would have prefered to use a single coloured thread (this kind of embroidery is traditionally done
I've been experimenting with some traditional embroidery styles. The first two pictures are examples of the Hardanger style (from 17th century Norway). These are stitched in quite thick cotton thread. The third is in the Assisi style (from 16th century I
