Well hear I am again. When it rains it pours around here. Had a wreck on my way to church this am.No one hurt. I for the life of me don't really know how it happened. Was turning left onto a road the church parking lot in my sight and next thing I know CRASH young lacy with her two small boys were coming out of the road I was turning into and got the drivers side of front of my car. Her entire front end was all smashed in. I was able to drive home,she had to get a tow truck. No tkts for either of us. I went in church and got my son n law out I was so rattled. He took care of everything for me. Bad thing my car ins. Is $500.00 deductible and will be without a vehicle for a while, Good thing 2 son n laws retired and 1 next door to me. No buses are taxis out here in the country. Need your prayers, this old gal is really shook up. Had my back brace on(never leave home without it) so that's a good thing. Haven't had a fender bender in 40 years so you see why it unnerved me. Wondering if I should keep on driving./Lillian

In my State, we have a senior driving test -- to make sure those that worry... know if they should hang up the keys or if they are still good to go.
Whatever the case -- please be safe!

So sorry to hear of this but I wouldn't give up driving unless advised by your doctor. Stuff happens......that's life. You are so lucky to have family living close by that can help you and God was with you keeping you safe. Prayers are being sent your way. Juanita

Thanks Martine. I'm hoping we do not have to be dependent for very long. Do not know how long the repairs will take. I know parts will have to be ordered. SIL is going to get the estimates the ins. co. wants and then guess we will go from there/Lillian

I am so glad you are OK. That is the most important thing.
It is amazing to me how actions take on a different perspective as we get older. Every time I can not remember a word or find myself going into a room and can't remember why I went there I think Dementia or onset of Alzheimer. Of course I did the same thing in my thirties without these thoughts. If you would have had an accident in your younger years, you would have not consider to give up driving. 40 years no accident. Amazing!!!

Thanks Angie, you are right. I've been driving since I was 15. Will be 77 my next birthday so have slowed down a lot but would still like to be independent as possible. Would never want to feel I'm a burden to anyone/Lillian

Glad you are o.k., Lillian, although shook up, I'm sure. These things scare us, and make us nervous for a bit. But, seems like one hitting your drivers side, while you were making a turn, would be at fault. Whatever, just regain your positive thinking, and enjoy life! Too soon to think differently, dear!!

Dear Lillian, I am so happy to read that you are o.k. Cars can be repaired!!! I'm also glad that your son in law helped you out when needed. I do hope you have relaxed a bit by now. (I'm praying for you as I write this but it is late Monday evening - we are so far ahead in time). We also have senior driving tests here in Australia. Well its evening here now Chris and my SIL is taking care of the phone calls, ins. co. and everything so I guess it is time for me to calm down. But when I do WHAM!! I hear Ron hit the floor trying to get his self to bthrm on his own. His head hit the bookcase so now he has a big bruise. I'm glad that you are ok. In my State they we don't have Senior Driving Tests because (they say) the majority of accidents involving Seniors happen to pedestrian seniors, not those who are driving. Take heart, you are a good driver!

Wrecks are unsettling for us all. I'm sure that one of your darling son-in-laws would be honest and tell you if you needed to stop driving. If you are still unsure, just ask them and tell them you won't be upset with them for telling the truth. I think no accidents in 40 years is probably a good sign that you are doing just fine.

So sorry to hear of your accident. But am happy to know you were not injured. I think you are probably an excellent driver and from the way you described the accident it sounds as though you had the right of way. The other lady should have stopped as she was coming out of the road. Am glad to hear you have relatives close by that can help for transportation and any other needs while your car is in for repair. I imagine this a.m. you are a bit stiff and sore from the jolt of it all. Take it easy and know that all of your cutie friends are praying for you and for a quick easy repair to your vehicle. Thanks Gerry. I've driven across this country and back several times in my younger years and use to really enjoy driving. Now I do not drive at night but still drive,shopping etc. Would really hate to give it completely up/Lillian

No wonder you were shaken up - anyone would have been. Don't loose confidence in your driving - sounds like you have a good sensible family - if you have any qualms ask them what they think. Lillian I am so sorry it is still 'raining' at your house. I am happy though no one was badly injured, just shook up. Anybody would be, after an accident. I bet she was too. My grandson was scared to drive after someone pulled out on a main highway and hit him. It took him a while to recover his nerve to drive, even though he wasn't at fault. Don't let this take you independence from you. My MIL never learned to drive and regretted it, because she said she wasn't able to always go, when she wanted to. She always had to depend on others and their time. I see this was posted yesterday. I hope you are feeling better today and not too sore either. Best wishes for you-Toogie

Lillian, I have not had a fender bender in a long time also. I know you were up set as I would have been. My mother kept driving until she hit one of those post at the drive through at the bank. I think you will know when you should no longer drive. This sounds as if a younger person had too much going on in her own car. Glad no one was hurt. Love you , Kay
