HELP REGARDING DESIGNER 1 USB AND GENERAL DISK ERROR WITH EMBIRD

Hi all,

I'm in possession of a Husqvarna Viking Designer 1 with USB, Embird 2010 and windows 8 laptop.

Recently I've had troubles with my USB stick. I've had it crash on me, so I formatted it with Embird and put new files on it.

Then it did not read in my machine anymore "general disk error". I've searched around but haven't found a solution yet. I'm thinking the problem lies in the formatting. My machine needs old formatting (fat 16), and I was able to format is on the windows to fat 16 (I think), but Embird cannot write to de USB unless I format it with Embird so the programm can write de 12 directories on it. I'm thinking it maybe undoes my fat 16 formatting to an fat 32 formatting.

Anyone any ideas how to get it working again?

Maybe some formatting options on my designer 1 I could not find (yet)?

thanks in advance!!

You need to go into Embird Help - pages 355 to 358 which will tell you how to put designs on a flash drive. It is done through Right Panel, imput/output, create D1 USB, pick USB Drive in top box and also in lower box, then Format Medium on the RT side of pg. - Follow the directions to complete the process to get the designs to the stick.

You cannot drop and drag designs to the stick for the D1 USB.

Hope this helps.

Is your USB stick formatted for your machine? Put a blank one into your machine and let it do what it wants - then save your embroidery files into the folder your machine has created.
