Finally finished a quilt I promised to a friend two years ago. I enjoy piecing and was intrigued by the jelly roll race quilt tops but I don't like the quilting and binding, mainly because I am never satisfied. Well my friend is moving to Washington state next week so I had to finish it, no more procrastinating...so here it is and I was pleasantly surprised that the despised quilting and binding went very well.

This post was prompted by rescuer's post about pictures.

this is a nice one, isn't it. I have one to make up, but just haven't gotten around to it. You may have just inspired me! Your friend will need it in Washington won't she? I believe it can get a bit cold there [I am from the Southern part of Australia where it is a very temperate climate]

Thank you. It's quite different from dry New Mexico, but she's not concerned. I hope the weather will convince her to come "home". Just my own self interest talking here. LOL

Very pretty! I know what you mean about the quilting and binding part too. I always have to do the binding twice it seems.

Congratulations on finishing this beauty! Nothing like a deadline to spur you to the finish line! I am sure your friend will cherish this forever and remember the times you shared every time she sees this!

Yeah for you! Yeah for Rescuer!! I love it and I usually do not like jelly roll quilts. I think it is the random repetition of colors. Excellent and congratulations! I have a quilt older than you that needs a bit more piecing( I have contrary seams) and the rest.

Thank you. I like the randomness of it, it's mindless piecing I guess... although I like choosing the fabrics for more traditional piecing.

What beautiful colors. I like it. I have quilted mine with just straight line quilting down the middle of the strip or an overall design. It is always good to really finish a quilt. Great job.

Thank you, I just did an easy meandering stitch. It was just such a relief to have it done at last. Sure felt good though. LOL
