I've had that message too Heather and I just turn it off and re-start the machine again. It then disappears. I do hope it is as simple as that, if not I'd suggest you check with Brother and or look at your manual. Love Chris

I get that message on one of my Pacesetter ULT;s. I keep the arm attached all the time for embroidering at will. My other machine I use primarily for sewing. Anyway, I get that message when I turn on machine and touch for arm to position. This is what I do--lift the foot lever as high as I can then let it return to normal 'foot up' position. I also get the message when I press button to move arm to storage position. If this works for you, just know I've been doing it for at least 2-3 yrs and no probs or damage anywhere. It must be a tension sensor that is bad for me. Hope it helps.

I have gotten this message on my old Brother PC8500D each time I turn on the machine to begin embroidering from the time I purchased it many years ago. I always assumed this was a step to ensure the hoop was centered, ready for embroidering. I just hold the presser foot up to the highest point with one hand, then tap the computer screen with the other hand to continue to setup a design to embroider. I am so used to the message after all these years, that I assumed it was a basic setup step, and doing it comes natural to me now. Never have had an issue of any significance with my machine at all, that wasn't owner error. It still stitches as beautifully as the day I got it. It has never been to a shop; just gentle maintenance and cleaning occasionally by me.

I KNOW THAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO TURN THE MACHINE OFF BEFORE PUTTING THE CARRIAGE BACK ON AND TO MAKE SURE IT LOCKS IN WHEN YOU SLIDE IT ON THEN TURN MACHINE ON TO EMBROIDER NICE TO MEET YOU GLAD YOU JOINED THESE FOLKS ARE THE GREATEST EVER:)
