I don't think it is a case of being dishonest, more like being uninformed as to what is allowed.
The Terms and Conditions are quite clear. If you do not know what some of the terms mean -- ask.

I would like to know where/how to ask sewmom if she knows the source for her avatar but cannot figure out how, or to ask the community if anyone knows if the image is of an embroidery design and how I might purchase it.

A PM would work. Read through the posts in the Q&A section for information how to send a PM
Please note that images can be found in many places...many designs that look alike are not the same. This could be the same thing
