Great Save!-You know the men's toiletry bags I made? I don't know what happened when I enlarged them, one I really enlarged. (The link is below but I enlarged to fit a 14 in zipper) Well it looked funny to me, because the other 3 were enlarged, just right. Well my great son-in-law came in to drop off the kids, (he also loves and encourages me, with my sewing). I showed him the bags and when he saw the bigger one he said, "You know Gram what that would look cute as? A toddler back pack." Wasn't he smart! I used Nora as my model, (doesn't she look so sweet?) anyway, I think it made a great save. What do you think?-Toogie EDITED to add photo of straps and hardware. EDITED 5-31-15 Just to let you know-I made 2 pirate backpacks, with a 3/4 yd (27inches) piece I had. I still lined them with baby dry. See the 2 little pieces I had left in chair.

Awesome Toogie :)....adorable Nora with a very cute boxie bag!
Well done execution with all the details of adding a belt to hold and those belts to hang....they seem to be adjustable as well :) love it!
Would you be sweet enough to share the size of cloth you started with and the size of the finished bag!

I don't mind telling you what I started with, but because it was a mistake in cutting, I really don't know. The FINISHED bag measures 12 3/4inch across the zipper edge and 12 inches from center top zipper to bottom seam. The top handle I added, finished at 8 1/2 inches. I sewed it in, when I boxed the corners at the top. The straps for the arms, I used the 45 inch width of fabric X 3inches, and after making I cut in half.I put about 3/4" cutaway in the center of straps. She tell you to make the tabs 2x3 but I cut mine 3x4, 4 being the finished length before folding in half. I just thought it would give you a little more, to grip, when opening....Now that I made this awesome mistake, I want to make her a girly bag, for her Tag, dol or Pj's...IF I can get this one away from her-lol

Thank you so much Toogie for explaining everything as well as that extra pic of the bag :) you are very kind!
I just posted my boxie pouch....which is a variation( by mistake) ;)

It was a good idea, wasn't it, and much nicer as a back back, than a too wide toiletry bag. He is a good SIL.

Actually, she chose a pirate fabric (lol), but I don't know. I will make it and a pink girly print, then let her choose. I told her Papa, I don't know if she liked the blue background or the shark on the pirate print. She opens my drawers and picked out fabrics saying,"Nora's dress". I told my hubby she likes fabrics as much as me!!!!

Oh, that's wonderful. You may have a little seamstress to teach soon. .

Your little sweetie is absolutely adorable! OMGoodness. she makes that camo bag look fantastic! Of course, seeing her cute little face would have to make anything look great! You must be the best Grandmommie. Always thinking of super ways to make your kids happy and making them the absolute best stuff. I hope that your kids appreciate it. Too many kids without a Grandparent that would do so much for them. Bless you!
