My daughter has earned her Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of California Santa Cruz. With the luck of timing (classes that she needed were available when she needed them) and hard work she did the four year degree in 3 years. Her boyfriend of 4 years also graduated on the same day with a degree in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology. A very proud and amazing day for our families!

Weather was foggy and dismal in the morning as I saved seats (so don't mind my really bad hair day) but it cleared up and got sunny giving several of us sunburns, even those of us that had sunscreen on. Every minute was worth it!

Photo 1- my daughter and her boyfriend
Photo 2- oldest son, oldest daughter, the boyfriend, youngest daughter. (My second son was working overtime at the fire department.)
Photo 3- me and my husband with our daughter
Photo 4- One I think you will all appreciate: the stole of appreciation she gave me. It's done in metallic thread and looks really good in person even though the picture looks a bit puckered.

Wonderful!!. Getting as much education as you possible my can is something I have always encouraged all to do. This is some thing to be really proud of. Keep encouraging her to now get her Masters. The higher the degree the more money they make. It is not easy to do what she did .She has to be very smart. Give her a hug for me/Lillian

Congrats to your daughter. Where does she go from here? Teaching, further study, or some other cleaver endeavor?

She hasn't decided yet. She will figure out eventually, I'm sure. So far it's following her man to his Masters destination while she considers where she might apply for the following year. I followed my man after college too. The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. Fortunately she is smarter than me and has already surpassed me in college experience and she has much better parental support than I did too.

As long as she has good taste in men, I'm sure it will all work out great.

You certainly have earned the right to brag Mom and I know how proud you are! This is not only her degree. I was proud of mine, but prouder of those that my children earned. Congratulations to you all!

So true. I'm bursting with pride. I remember posting years ago when I first dropped her off at the dorms. I raved about the beautiful forest on campus and the ocean views! There were odd things through the years too like the homeless man that kissed her after she gave him a quarter. And there was at least one suicide and at least one rape, and one falsely reported rape because a girl didn't want to get in trouble for something else. But overall an excellent experience. Especially meeting the young man that she hopes to marry!

Congratulations to both of them ! I bet you all must be very proud. It is only with hard study you can accomplish such things. Super great !

Thank you very much. I did not make the dress. It is actually from Marshall's, a discount clothing store. Didn't pay much at all. In fact it would cost me more to make it LOL.
