I made this little 'dress' for my g-daughter, off a top pattern. Pattern was McCall's 4497-date 2004- I lengthened the top, but evidently, not enough. First photo too short. When I was able to try it on her, it was too short. I put this band around the bottom, double fold like the pillowcase band, to lengthen. Second photo. Also, there is a photo of her cap I was able to emb thanks to jrob, tfk, marfa and others, for posting the links to 'how to make a cap/hat hoop'. Last photo.- What do you think about the band?-Toogie

I am glad you 'decided' it was okay, 'undecided'-lol- I just had to say that because of your name. How did you choose your name?

Perfect solution - looks so cute and the hat too! What a model she is! Hugs to you! Laura*

Laura, she is 'forced' to model so she can get down from the table-lol- I thought if I put her there, when she is uncooperative, she wouldn't run off. She was dancing on the table top, so it is still hard to get her still !

The band "made" the dress. She is soooo cute.

Thank you , if I wanted to make a dress out of it, which I did, I needed more length!

I always put a band on this style of dress Toogie as they grow so fast! Well done it looks fabulous. Love Chris

Thanks Chris-I rather see her in a dress at this age, than shorts. She is still babyish and in diapers. She will be two next month, so she will have to be potty trained soon.

I think you did a terrific job. I'm putting bands on all these pillowcase dresses I'm making right now for the orphanage. They help to liven up the dress or add more color. Love the little cap also/Lillian

Thanks Lillian, I wasn't sure what color to emb the cap, but in the end figured, white on the pink, would match more. The work you do is so generous and I'm not speaking only money wise, its your time, energy. I know how full your hands are. Take care Toogie

Great way to start my morning seeing this little cutie in another beautiful creation sewn by you, Toogie! The band looks really great and adds to the dress overall. Love the little hat too! Cute, cute, cute :)

I've been wanting to emb her a hat. She goes to her brother's ball games and sun is so hot this fair skin can burn easily. I have an idea for another one this style, but I've got to make her panty/bloomer for this one. I wanted to make her some clothes for her birthday, but she is here so much and if its a different pattern I need to try on her, she usually takes the outfits home. Maybe I can keep the next one a surprise, since I know how this one fits.
You could probably dress your little cutie in anything and we would all swoon! You really do a marvelous job sewing EVERYTHING! Love seeing your posts!
Thank you

Another adorable outfit for your sweet g-daughter. She's a natural in front of your camera too!
Love the band on the bottom of the dress.... perfect detail for her dress.
BTW... just wanted you to know that I tried out the little shoes that you had been making, and they are just cute! I'm sending them up to my great-niece either today or tomorrow. I told my niece-in-law that she was getting some "Toogie-shoes" for Ella, and told her the story. You are famous!

Ah, that's sweet of you. Did you happen to take a picture before shipping, I'd love to see!!!......now lets get back to me being famous....I will have to tell my hubby when he gets in, 'We are going to be rich!"...I think 'fame and fortune' is the saying...I guess I'll have to get some binoculars, to find the fortune, 'cause I just don't see it!-lol-lol- All joking aside, I really do like these little shoes for my girls and didn't I say you would be surprised how easy to make. I'm glad you followed through.-Hope you have a good day-Toogie

Yes better with the band I think, And what a little cutie, Jean xx

Thank you Jean, I used the band again today but an inch narrower. The dress is the same length as this one, but I lengthened dress more, and made the band less.

Hi Toogie It looks as if it is supposed to be there and the model is just georgous...soozie

Thank you Soozie, she's our little sweetheart. She was standing IN her chair, in my sewing room, with my 6 inch ruler (was her microphone) singing softly into the ruler, while I sewed her dress. I kept telling her she was going to fall, but she's not scared.

Cute , Cute, Cute, a great save. She looks so cute in her outfit. Don't you just love how they pose in there new clothes. I used to take my son to the fabric store and let him pick the fabric.

She picks it out of my fabric drawers, isn't that sweet of them. Some days she poses better than others, most days, can't get her still-lol-Thanks for looking.

I like like peasant dresses, kind of like a smocked bishop, without the smocking.

Nice save, if you wanted you could of given it to her and got or made her some pants would of been a nice outfit also. Thank you for sharing. Happy times with your Grand Daughter & Happy Stitching!!
