Hi Cuties... What 'fixes' have you come up with? With all the Cuties spending hours at their machines, what have you discovered to help keep that thread untangled or the hoops from slipping or what ever else was causing problems?
Picture 1 and 2 -- When my thread kept fraying I sat and studied how the thread was passing from spool all the way to eye of the needle. In these pictures I have a red line marking the top of the auto threader, it has
a sharp angled edge. I point to it in the middle picture and how the thread is bent and could be rubbing on that edge, this might be the cause?????
Picture 3 -- trying to keep the thread from twisting and turning into a look I simply taped a piece of folded paper in the middle of the thread holder, it works!!
What fix have you come up with??

I just purchased the new Hemingworth thread stand that claims to eliminate this problem. Sure hope it works. Hugs. Nan W

This is a great idea. I didn't have a problem with this happening with my multi-needle. My problem with my embroidery machine was I found it annoying to have to constantly find the correct thread among the many I needed to finish a design. So I bought a 10 spool thread holder that sits behind my machine. I thread in order and now am a happy camper.

The only fix I've done lately is to my chair. I took my office chair with wheels and arms and added a $1 back curve shaper from the dollar store. Chair still wasn't right, so I added one of those tie-on chair cushions to raise the seat slightly. Still not right (for me) so now I have pinned a "neck roll" pillow onto the shaper to support the curve at my lower back. Now, I'm comfortable for hours. Green cushion, purple neck roll, black shaper in a cobalt and red and gold room - guess I need to fabric shop next?

My machine is in my bedroom and I don't have the space for a chair, I use a stool..... he he
I think your chair and mine must be twins, my cushions keep pulling forward, as its an office chair only has one support to tie the cushions to, using safety pins at the moment..more work to be doe though....wendy

If I'm having thread tangles, I thread it through a packing peanut just before it goes into the machine.
If I'm doing a design with a lot of color changes, I put them in "hanger" that has all these plastic pockets...like 5 across and 5 down that you hang in your closet to put socks or jewelry in. If I use a thread more than once...let's say thread number 3 is used again as thread 7, in pocket 7 put put a piece of paper in pocket 7 with a "3" on it so I know to reuse that thread.
I put the rubber stuff they use for shelf liners on my inner hoop to hold what I hoop better. I buy the thinner kind and cut 1" wide. I put double stick tape, 1/4" wide on the bottom of the sides of the hoop. I do not put it in the corners of the inner hoop. Then stick the liner on the bottom of the hoop, lining up the edges on the inner side. The liner will fold up the sides and provides extra holding power for the hoop.

As for the packing peanut... my thread breaks too much to have to thread the peanut too LOL I'll have to try the linner in my hoop!!!

I have 4 of these thread holders or whatever they are called. My hubby made mine, some time ago, and I have them at each machine. The fourth one is suppose to go to someone else but.....-lol

does your shred Toogie? Maybe yours doesn't because it is so much taller then the thread stands? It seems yours is towering over the machine so I wonder if that makes a difference?

Before I bought my machine I watched a store owner do some amazing major fiddling with her thread to stop it from tangling and breaking.
In the end she told me that one thread would only work in one place near the machine otherwise the thread would break. She tried thread stands beside, behind and in front o the machine and none were successful as they had been with other threads.
From that, I learnt "be flexible". Try anything, no matter how silly it looks/appears to help the thread do its trip to the fabric.
I have found just a slight change in positioning of the machine can upset some threads while others don't care a hoot what I throw at them.
For one troublesome thread I put it on a little set of shelves the height of the machine top, threaded it through my large reel stand loop, then through the machine and it worked fine. Any other way and it shredded and broke. The next time I used it I moved the machine slightly and the thread stand and walla, it worked well.

Most of my spools are the 5000 yard size but they tangle and shred just the same...

Use a piece of dryer sheet , weave a thread through where the thread passes.

I think the shredding means you need a needle with a larger eye. Is this thread metallic? Try a metallic needle or a topstitch needle. Hugs. Nan W

Wow, I have this and quit using it because I didn't know about all the different ways to thread. Guess I will be getting that bugger back out and checking it out.
From watching the video I'm thinking there will always be problems with the thread breaking so they keep coming up with 'fixes'..... I'll have to look for that threader!! Thanks

Smart girl. What ever works, do it. Love a simple fix. Thanks for sharing. After watching the video of the new Hemingworth thread stand, I am going to see if a straw fits over my spool holder and will do the same thing. Fingers crossed. Love the homemade spool stands.

Hrrrrrrrrm .. I just watched the video too and it looks like they've simply replaced the spool holder with a telescopic aerial .. surely we could do the same by taking one of an old portable radio or stereo? Wonder if I can find one somewhere. *wink*

But they also had the thread unwinding, sideways....
Sideways? What I meant was to use the same thread stand (as they had in the video) .. I have one of those .. and then replace the small metal spool holder in the centre of the base with a telescopic aerial. I found one yesterday but haven't tried it out yet.
