I'll end up trying too... I have lightweight vinyl and marine vinyl for tests, but do it with fabric is a good idea. Thank you for sharing.

Marine Vinyl works best for this type of thing - gives it nice body.

You can use fabric , I even use denim. It's pretty in purple
Last night I used up the vinyl from the purse that I cut up so now I don't have any but I might give denim a try. Great suggestion!

I ordered this this morning. Rec'd it with my name and I have stitched it
out in vinyl with design in all royal blue. This stitched out like a dream.
I didn't use any wss on top. I didn't need to. Thanks to Carolyn for
