Vaca is over and back at my machine, playing catchup with my imaginary schedule. Thanks to all for my birthday wishes. We were on the road pursuing one of my other hobbies, art pottery. Saw some amazing parts of the USA and met some fine people, heard many great stories. DH exchanged stories with so many strangers that I was concerned he was giving out our itinerary, address and a key to the house. He calls me the Security Department, as I am so cautious. I found out what Pennsylvanians say when someone asks where they're from and they don't care to say: "Down the road".

Update: Have used 31 of my Salvation Army zippers making ITH Christmas and sports teams bags. Can almost make them in my sleep now.

Or some New Englanders I've met say "about" pronounced a boot. I love to hear the different accents and local slang. I do hope you've had a great time and I'm glad you are back.

Wonderful time and spotted two families from Boston by their accent, as I have family there!

It sounds like a wonderful trip. I'm like you, ready and willing to protect my family. But it is fun to meet folks from all over and to see our beautiful country.

How nice to be able to take to the open road. Have always loved doing that, but alas those days are gone. The thing is you keep those memories in your heart and mind and when that day arrives you can still enjoy them by reliving them in your mind../Limeandering.Y. Hope you keep a scrap book or photo album with little written notes of your meandering

THanks, Lillian. Yes, we are creating a stash of memories against the day when I can;t travel or I'm gone or he is gone. DH would stay on the road half the year if we could afford all those hotels. He is an excellent navigator and remembers almost every back road he's been on before, such as where to eat, sleep and get gasoline.
