I made key fob as a quick project knowing I would be getting a snap setter. My hubby wanted me to get table top model so I can use grommets or plastic or metal snaps. Since my hands are not best for steady squeezing or repetitive anything.

It just arrived about 1 hour ago. I put snap on in just seconds love it. Now I want some bags with snaps and towels and many other ideas starting to pop into mind.
Also, I thank a special Cutie for her advise on how long top tab area should be as you can see in picture two the one on left little short for adding snap Could use smaller snap maybe but for the average 20 size needed more tab. The one on right with quick put on snap.

Very pretty, Mary........Jim is going to help me figure mine out tonight.....I have the handheld model.....hopefully it will be easier than the grommet thingy I had that I didn't have enough strength for......

I am still recovering from hand surgery so I can't use my right hand but I have figured out how to set snaps with my left (weaker) hand by steadying it on a chair seat and pushing down. Where there is a will there is a way.

I got the dies for 3 different grommets in price with the press. Then bought the dies for plastic snaps and snaps. I now have a add to it list going. Hubby helped me see how parts go together. I was going to just get hand held and make me a wood press to hold it. Then got told he needed the grommets and maybe metal snaps. I said he can only use under my supervision, that is after he shows me how something works.

I love your idea of using the snaps on towel toppers. I hadn't even thought of that.

I may even use to fix some soft jeans wore out at snap area. I cannot stand stiff jeans the older the better at least around home.

Lucky you. I can just see the brain going a hundred miles an hour. Better keep a note book handy for all those ideas.
Good job on your key fobs.

Congrats on your new snap machine. You key fob looks great. Plus, you are able to put in grommets and have round hook holes for towels and such. Have fun making things.

Excellent piece of equipment! I had to go with the cheaper model, however hubby made it workable. It is fun way to finish a piece.

Thanks. I got this from a neat sewing supply place less than the one most talk about and almost identical. This one dies screw in on the Popular it uses wrench to tighten. I came across and the hand helds where I got this also identical for around 12 bucks. Just not sure if I am allowed to put places name but if you want the link I can PM you with it.

I have a ton of upholstery fabric squares and trying to use them. I backed this with felt. I thought x stitch would look nice on it.

Thanks, but projects are slow with all the garden etc going on. The good thing is I don't get bored I forgot what that felt like the minute I got married.

Once you try them you will never use anything else!
by highlandermom 25 Jul 2015
You gotta knock the sleep dust off them and start snapping. I am now revamping purse with snaps. Need fix on pair of jeans this will fix. Thinking of some other helps around here. Not to mention projects. I have a feeling I will go bag crazy. Hubby even wanting just small bags to put things in.

Congratulations on your super duper toy! Sounds like you are ready to "snap" to it! Lots of wonderful creative ideas are flowing. Can't wait to see your projects. I really liked your comment to basketkase about allowing your husband to use in only under your supervision, lol!

Around here I get into his tools they are my ok sneek. But mine well. My sweet pal knows that I don't he man things and some of mine stuff I gotta keep an eye on to keep the he man from happening lol. Example he was helping show me as I do so much backwards type thinking. I did not want to put snap on wrong. Well I just got through saying ahhh careful you'll drop that on my table the die before putting it in. I did not want table dented. Well..... he dropped and it did not dent so Sigh with relief. So only under my supervision.

I STILL haven't ordered my Kam snaps. I look, but don't order. Not sure which colors. I could get the assorted, but then if I like them, I'll wish I had ordered more, so I don't get any-lol...... Maybe if we all run this by our hubbies, they will 'want' us all to get the table model... Here's hoping you snap, till your heart is content!

Think natural, then pastel and primary then say I need more but that will keep you snapping away. Like anything there is goods and not so good. The table one will do metal snaps different ones and grommets and farther in fabric but they say if not going to use as much get hand held. Hubby just smiled and said my hands needed all the help they can get.

some places even have clear ones. I say get some silver.gold or bronze colors. Goes with everything
