Hello Cuties,

I stitched this Teacher subway design (two views) for my daughter who is an elementary school teacher. She plans to go to her classroom tomorrow, and decorate/arrange everything for the start of school in a couple of weeks. I will surprise her with this so she can hang it in her classroom.
Thanks for looking.

That's so perfect. I had 2 sisters that were teachers. This will definitely make a smile.

Your colours make it a perfect decoration. Can I show my ignorance and ask why designs for teachers always have apples in them?

I have no idea where I heard this but I have always thought that apples represent the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden (incorrect fact that it is) and therefore teachers were the givers of knowledge = apple. My mother being a teacher for over 40 years is probably where it came from?

Thank you. I noticed that as one of the possibilities mentioned in the article to which gwillman provided the link. Sounds nicer than dating back to a tradition of potatoes and other goods given as part of a teacher's wages.

Wow, it looks really nice stitched out! I too, made a subway art wall hanging for a first year teacher (she will teach 2nd grade) and this is one of the designs I found online and considered ;) Looking at yours makes me wish I had chosen it. Maybe a redo is in order! Your daughter is going to be so excited with this wonderful surprise handmade with love! Congratulations on your daughter being a teacher! Both my oldest son and daughter in love are high school teachers.
