Is there a way to contact the Magic Box Company or Distributor and see if there is any way to update it. I'm sure you will not be the only one with this problem esp as they are already pushing us to update to Windows 10. Good luck.

look for an old second hand laptop with xp or perhaps try windows7. I face similar issues when my computer fizzes, and dread the day!!!!

Do you have embroidery software to download to your computer? Can you transfer designs from your computer to your machine using a cable or an USB stick? What is the make of your machine? Is it a Bernina? If all else fails , contact your dealer and ask for help. Kay

Had problems when I got Windows 7. Try opening your designs with Bernina.exe.

I have pe des,6 it also is not compatable with win8, I have a virtual program installed. '' Oracle VM virtual 'a repairer installed it for me...wendy then I have XP on the vm.prog. which is totally seprate from win 8 ...wendy

I am sort of in your shoes--I have a MB, and windows 10...but I have old computers with XP. However, the best advice I can give you is to buy PE Design Basic software by Brother--it should cost under $100 usd on ebay. It will read/write your designs from computer to card and then you take to machine. I'm sure it will work on Win 8, because I've installed it on my computer with 10. Do not use the install disk--go to Brother site>Downsoads-and follow the instructions. OESD stopped support for the Magic Box a few yrs ago, so I don't think you will be able to update the driver.

The Ultimate Box works with Win7, but I don't know about Win8. I keep two of my old computers to use for my embroidery because of these problems. I'd sure try to locate an old laptop to just do embroidery on.

Hi Linda. Welcome to Cute. About 3 years ago I had the same sort of problem. I had the same machine as you but instead of my computer dying, my machine died. It ended up with me having to buy a new embroidery machine which was not compatible with my Magic Box. I sold my Magic Box and all my cards on EBay. I am sorry to say that I think any other version of Windows will not work with the Magic Box and I would also suggest trying to get a second hand lap top that has windows XP. hi there i had the same problem and i have bought an old computer of somebody else with windows 6 and have my magic box installed on that and only use that now for my magic box could not find another salution because apparently there are no instructions to install the magic box after windows 6 good luck a lot of frustration
