As a former high school teacher, I know you don't get kudos often and when you do, you treasure them up against the many days of criticism. I still treasure a thank you note from the parent of an eighth grader, and that student would now be 51!

Was it your intent to make me cry? Regardless, it brings tears to my eyes and makes my heart want to sing! I am very proud for you and Dana. She has a good student, in this child, to recognize her teachers qualities and appreciate them. I am so happy with you, if my hip wasn't giving me the dickens, I'd say we'd do the happy dance!-lol

You have every right to be a proud Mum, and Dana should be proud too. My eldest son and his wife are both school teachers at a boys high school in Sydney, and they put in a lot of hours. Nice to think that they are appreciated for the effort. Sandra.

My hats off to Dana, not many teachers get that kind of respect from their students. You have every reason to brag, you and Trevor as the parents get a pat on the back for raising her so well. It is nice when a parent hears that their adult child has done well. We then can sit back and say " We did good". Thanks for sharing. Hugs Lynn .

It's always nice to give credit to those who are there to teach us(and your right they don't get paid nearly enough), you and your husband raised Dana to be the good and thoughtful person described and I believe the parents of this child are also doing this.. but it is so nice to see this child or a pupil of any age appreciate the work that goes into their learning.

Chris, I remember my 3rd grade teacher. The woman I work with now, was in the same class as me, and we were just talking about Mrs.Carrie the other day. We remembered when we finished our work, we were to lie our heads down on our desk. She had a long desk at the back of the room she would go to and work on dolls. The dolls were a stiff stand up plastic kind. The clothes she made, I believe, may have been made out of felt. It was fitted to the waist then it flowed out in two or three tiers, each one coming out further than the tier before. We remember thinking how beautiful they were and how nice it would be to have one. At the end of the school year, if you made straight A's, every 6 weeks, on your report card she gave you a silver dollar. She also gave the girls, one of those beautiful dolls she worked on all year. I don't remember what else she gave the boys. I was too excited and proud, to receive my beautiful, pink dressed doll! It had a place on my made bed every day for years! My co-worker got one too. I'll ask her later today, what color was her dress....I also remember she had plants on the window sill, I used to watch her water.....lol-I remember my teachers back then, but can't remember more recent occurrences.
