Yikes...glad you are okay...I hate to admit it, but I have done it...just once while I was embroidering...still can't figure out just how it happened...I was lucky that the needle went straight through and didn't break...pheeew...but it did go through my fingernail...fortunately, all turned out well...

Needle went straight through and broke - which in a way was good as I got my finger back quicker! I would totally freak out if it went through my nail!! Happy yours turned out fine!! I think the idea upset my DH more than anything!!

Only once and that was enough for me. I was alone at the time and only 19, used hand wheel to back needle out. It only throbbed for a couple of days. Hope yours stops hurting soon.

Yes many years ago and then in the autumn too. Someone insisted that I should have a anti tetanus booster jab when it happened the first time So I did and I reacted so much that I could not get downstairs or to work for 2 days. I hope you don't have this problem. Yup it hurts

I think the admission into the club is more than I want to pay, so I don't want to join, thank you anyway...I did once stick/jam a crochet hook into my palm. Those tiny hooks that you use for cotton threads....ever try to pull a hook out? it hangs...I learned then to pre-punch my holes with an awl, then crochet into the hole. Not try to punch it with the hook. I was crocheting edging to a baby blanket. Blanket was out of plisse'.

No but the rotary cutter got me pretty good. I was initiated into the club when I was just 5 years old with a needle through the toe, so I have stayed clear of the needle in the finger thing.

I've come very close to doing this and I hope that is as close I ever get to stitching myself together. My heart goes out to you because I know it has to hurt a lot. Be careful of infection and enjoy some ice cream. I think Ice cream helps anytime.

Ice cream - now, I do believe that is the answer - yes, I would feel better with some ice cream!! (do be more careful than I was!!)
by toogie 26 Aug 2015
We have homemade ice cream, come on over, both of you!

Yes I have done that also. It hurts like crazy. I also sliced my finger with the rotary cutter. That was no fun either. Hope your finger quits throbbing soon.

Laura,I use a stilleto,or wooden skewer a lot when sewing or embroidering. They have little pointed ends and if you use them instead of fingers this won't happen so easily.

I joined the club when I was 11 years old LOL 6:30 am, I woke my poor mother up holding a pair of pliers and asked her to remove it, she was not amused!! I don't remember it hurting much, am I weird. Take care all and try NOT to join the club.
