Hi there! I was just given a singer Quantum XL 1000, and a little lost on where to begin. Does anyone have this machine that could point me in the right direction. It came with several cords, and the professional sew ware 1.1 cd, however a few places I have read say its not compatible with newer computers. Can I download designs to the machine?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks

Your machine requires you to use software and a Card Writer Box to transfer designs. I do not think it will work with regular software and a direct connect USB cable but you should check the Singer website for more information or contact Singer via phone/email or go to their Facebook page to ask.
We do have some Singer Embroidery Machine users here -- but not many.
Your machine may not work with any operating system past XP. You can use Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate if you have it set up to use virtual XP. It is not a "duel boot" but more like clicking on a link and having a Windows XP machine there. Unless you know a lot about computers, you will need professional help to do this. Make sure they set up USB's correctly so your Singer will work.

It looks like you can use any of the Card Writer Boxes to transfer your embroidery designs from your computer to the Embroidery machine. Each box has its own compatibility issues for newer Windows operating systems.
Ok thank you so much! There what I think is a card writer box with it and a blank card, my computer doesn't seem to recognize the cd though so I'll have to do some investigating! Thanks!

There is a Yahoo Group for the XL machines. It is not very active but there are still some people on there who can help you.
