I thought that the needle threader of my sewing machine was broken. Yesterday I needed to change my needle from a 12 to a 16 as I was sewing some very thick webbing. It is such a habit to use the needle threader that I used it and the size 16 needle threaded beautifully first go. I can only think that there is a difference either the size of the eye or something else is not lining up. I have tried again for ages this morning to thread the size 12 and I cannot get it to thread automatically. Have any other Cuties had this problem?

Are the two brands of needles the same? Meaning are they both - say schmetz or organ or X? That could be a clue.... My first machine was picky - I had a needle up/down button and if I pushed that before I tried to thread (so it went down and back up again) that seemed to help. Hope it gets worked out.

Sorry to hear this, Sarah, I wish I could help...my needle threader works on all sizes except 8/65..the eye is too small on this one. Perhaps your needle threader wire is ever so slightly off and it makes it into the eye on a 16, but misses on the 12...can you thread an 11 or a 14?

I was told by the person I purchased my Juki quilting machine from, not to use the needlethreader when using the thread I use with webbing. It is quite a fiddly gadget type of needlethreader on that particular machine.

I know that husqvarna diamond will not thread size 10 needles because the eye of the needle is to small for the automatic threader to fit through.
Thankfully I can still see to thread the needles the old fashion way..
Maybe you can get around this by moving the needle position over to the left or right side ,so it will line up with the threader.

I tried a 14 today and still will not thread, no matter how low or high I put the needle. Thank goodness it does not stop me from sewing - just a nuisance

If it works on a 16 but not on smaller sizes...I would guess that the wire that actually pushes the thread through the eye of the needle is just a hare off. I am not familiar with your machine...do you have to manually pull the needle threader down and then push something to operate...with the BabyLock Ellisimo...it is totally automated...one button to push on the arm and it automatically threads...My Janome has a pull down are and then I have to push a small lever attached to thread the needle...it gets off center occasionally and needs to be adjusted.

The only needles that give me trouble are the size 60\8 and 65/9. I use these when sewing my silk scarves. I also suspect the tiny wire that goes through the needle eye is bent slightly. I did slightly straighten one machine once with a pair of tweezers, but I would not tell you to do that and if you broke it, you would be mad at me. Kay

Kay, I also think that the tiny wire is bent and I know if I try to correct it - it will break. I will carry on without the needle threader
