Wow for a first try it is excellent. Almost couldn't see where you put the zip. If it wasn't showing on the right hand side of the picture I wouldn't have spotted it at all.

It is my first. Scotch tape was my friend. Could not get the zipper right. Ended up cutting the stabiliser and taping the zipper in place from underneath till stitched.
Your method has worked well.
