Was taken for a day out today. I staggered out of the first factory shop clutching 8 end of rolls of fabric which will be so useful for stitch outs of new designs and for backing fabric. At the second stop there was some fabric (but more expensive than the 50p a roll I had spent on the first purchase) so at the scrap store I bought 16 bottles of paint, there will be some happy grandchildren who will also be getting a roll of paper each which also cost 50p a go. The last stop was at a knitters paradise with the most amazing selection of wools/yarns to knit. I was so overwhelmed by the selection and wondered what the reaction would be at home to 'I have spent £100 on some pretty wool to knit a jumper' that I decided that I will get organised and sort out a pattern before I visit again soon. The next day out is already in the planning stage. Anyone else have good days out like this?

Yes. For anyone near Atlanta, Georgia, USA, go to the Atlanta Water Works (down by the river) and then look across. Lots of outlets of (mostly) upholstery fabrics, ends and bolts, and loads of pricey trims for cheap. It's a "busman's holiday" for Cuties.

I am not sure what this is. Can you say more as I live a couple of counties out. Don't know "down by the river" means. Kay

Lucky you. Here we have a lot of Craft Stores with coupons to bring down prices. I am doing a lot more shopping on line lately. I do miss handling materials.

What a fun day you have had. Sounds like you will be going back.
Did you get home and wish you had bought that other piece at the first shop but didn't because you were going on to another and didn't want to blow all your money at the first?
I have done that.

Sounds like a good place to spend the day.
My friends and I do a trip day out to Cabramatta in Sydney, Australia every now & then.
I do not go to classes anymore so I treat going to the store where I used to go to classes as a special day out. Fabric N Stuff in that store and lovely edibles downstairs.
