Eventually I managed to produce these snowflakes. I had 3 failed attempts but persevered. I put loops on 2 as these could be tree ornaments but they are coasters really. Just hope no one spills red wine!!!! Thanks to Noah.x

You wouldn't want to add plastic to the top because that would not let the coaster absorb water. If you are afraid of getting stains, you could just use Scotch Guard, but I don't know if Scltch Guard would prevent it from absorbing liquid or not. I use fabric backed vynal table cloth fabric that I get at Joann's for coaster backing. I've often used the thin clear vynal that I get there too.

Yes, these are very CUTE, you have done a nice job. I made a heap last year made them from felt and backed with fancy material. Sandra.
