Oh woe is me. I have had an abscess on the root of a tooth now for a week. Have been on antibiotics for five days. Today was the day to have it out. After several injections the tooth was still too sore to pull. We will have another 'go' on Monday. I have a fat face and am feeling very sorry for myself.

Keenu decided I needed some company on the bed.

Update. Had a reasonably good night. Dosed up to the eyeballs. The pain is a little better, so perhaps the antibiotics are kicking in at long last. Roll on Monday.

So sorry to hear this, Sarah...I feel your pain...I had a similar situation back in February...and I am still in the process of an implant...10 months...and I finally get finished next week...at least Keenu is there by your side to keep you company...

Thank you Kim. Unfortunately my bone is not good enough for an implant. I am having a tiny flexable denture - just for one tooth. The tooth is fairly near the back but I do not want a gap!!

Good thinking. I was in such pain when I returned from the dentist that I just had to get on the bed.

I know how you feel. I've been going through Root Canal Therapy since February and it's still not fixed. I now have to wait till I get the results today of the MRI. I just couldn't lie back in the dentist chair for 1 and a half hours. Take it easy and keep up the pain medication. Love Chris

There have been several attempts to get the nerve out. Unfortunately at the end of the toot canal if has calcified , making it impossible to complete the root treatment. It has flared up over the years but never as bad as this.

So sorry to hear you are in pain. I understand totally. I use coconut oil and swish it and it takes out the pain and infection. You may want to try it, as it will not interfere with any doctor prescribed medication.

PS Sarah when I have a toothache & the pain is bad I will get a washcloth & microwave it (according to my specs on microwave) for 45 seconds & place the warmed cloth on the side of my face & it numbs the pain
by airyfairy 04 Dec 2015
Thank you so much Loralye. I will try that

Update on my tooth. At long last it was removed yesterday. I am having a tiny flex plate next Thursday for six months and then we will see if I can have an implant.

The only thing worse than losing the tooth, is the pain beforehand. That is a terrible pain. I wanted one out so bad once, the dentist told me as 'hot' as it was, he couldn't deaden it and IF he tried to clamp on it, he was certain I could knock him across the room, it would hurt so bad. Patience is not a emotion you possess, when you're in pain...Keenu is at your feet, trying to get at the 'root' of your problem-lol
