Hi Gals, I've been missing in action since Monday. I've had the worst pain ever and have seen Chiropractors, no good, Acupuncturist, no good. Saw a Physiotherapist on Tuesday and she taped me around the area where the pain is most acute - guess what I came out in a massive rash as I'm allergic to the tape. So I asked Trev to pull it off and so he did and I can tell you I swore and started to cry. I told him to take it easy as it was literally stuck like glue. I went back yesterday and she tried some massage on the right buttock which seemed to help a bit, but last night I had the worst night ever. I woke at 3.00am walking around the house crying and trying to get comfortable. I finally took two Tramadol and another Valium and tried lying down on the couch out in the back room and then the couch in the lounge, once the pain subsided i went back down to my bed and just slept under a sheet as it's been so hot here.

I woke up at 8.00 and rang my surgery to see anyone - as the pain was still excruciating. I saw a man doctor who used to see my Father and he gave me 4 needles in the bum to localise the pain. He said it would only last a few hours and he is right. I'm in pain again and I've taken some more valium and Tramadol. I rang the place where I had the MRI and they are going to give me an injection right into the spot where the pain is. I believe this might be a Cortisone needle. I'm just praying this will help. Mum has decided not to come with us to Holbrook and has cancelled her Dog carer. My sister is upset that we are not coming but if this works we might still be able to go. I'm praying for a miracle. If not Julie may still drive up to see Mum.

I want to thank all of you who have been praying for me, please keep it up as I need it. I'm not doing anything this weekend. I was meant to be going to me best friend's daughters place tomorrow. But my Doctor has told me no driving, so sewing, no gardening, just relax. So I'm going to do as he says.

God bless you all and thanks for thinking of me. I love you all, love Chris

I am so sorry to hear about your pain. I have spent a few nights with restless leg syndrome which is pain shooting in the leg from the butt so bad you can't touch your foot to the ground. Praying for your full recovery.

My prayers and wishes going out to you so that things et better and real soon. If it is a cortisone shot they are giving you, you will need to relax (do nothing) for at least 2 days for it to have full effect. There is never a good time for something like this to happen and this being the season it really is a pain. Hopefully you will feel well enough to enjoy the holidays.
If cyper hugs could heal you, those from all your cutie friends would have you up and running in no time.
Here is the first one of many I am sure,
take care of yourself
hugs, hugs

So sorry to hear you are in pain. Don't give up on acupuncture. My husband was in terrible back pain and went to the acupuncturist who told him it would probably take 10 times before it would go away. He went faithfully inspite of still having pain. About treatment 7 it all went away never to return. I hope you can find some relief, soon.

Chris I'm so sorry! I'm crying with you since I know what you are going through. Please do rest. That muscle is uses for sitting, standing and walking. The pain is telling you that it needs to rest. The cortisone shot should help, just give it some time to work. Cortisone helps to relieve the inflammation. Be patient with yourself, I know how hard it is to have to miss so much. And keep venting. You know we care.

Oh Chris I had hoped so much that they would be able to manage the pain. You will stay on my prayer list. This has to be so defeating. It is difficult to obey the doctors around the busy holidays but you better. Sending a big hug to you.

Oh, my Chris, this pain sounds so awful - I am so sorry you can't seem to get any relief. Of course, you still have my prayers. You will get help as no one can take this much pain. Rest, don't worry about your family or friends - they will understand! Rest, you need it! Please let us know how you are doing! Love and hugs, Laura*

I stayed up till 1.25 last night so that Trev could get a good sleep as he said I had had a dreadful night on Thursday evening and I did. Anyway I dosed myself up with Tramadol, valium and Panadol and had the best night's sleep in ages. I got up and watered the garden as walking is good for me. The pain is still there but not so debilitating. So more pain killers. I've rung Amy to ask her to help me make some little dresses for the girls. Only 4 to do and they are like the ones I did a couple of years ago with the Christmas applique's on them. I will just cut the patterns out and Amy can sit at the sewing machine for me. Bless her, she is an Angel. I'm just hanging out the washing and having a milk drink with blueberries, blackberries and strawberries for breakfast. I wanted to write a thankyou here instead of in all the responses, please forgive me but it's easier to do it this way. Thankyou for everyone's prayers as they are working. I now God is letting me know to slow down. I feel for Carolyn I don't know how she does all the stuff she does. Also our dear friends Vicki, and Michelle. You know you go along in life with no problems and then all of a sudden your body starts to fall apart. I am more frustrated than anything as I feel as if I am just a normal woman who does what every woman does and that is just being a Mum, housewife, babysitter etc. I must learn to listen more to my inner being. I think God is teaching me a lesson here. God bless each and everyone of you, you don't know how much you all mean to me, I'm crying now and don't want to get too emotional. But I love you all. Love always Chris

P.S. Thanks for letting me vent, it really is wonderful being able to get this off my chest. Gotta go I can feel a niggle sitting in the chair.

So sorry to hear you are in so much pain. I hope it will stop when you have that cortisone needle. I guess that will be the next step for me as I have 1 more session with the Physio and then back to see my GP. It is nice that Amy can help you with your sewing. What would we do without our daughters. Hugs Shirley

Oh Chris, wish I could take away your pain. I also have sciatica and the only thing that helped me was traction. My back, right hip and right leg had such shooting pains I could not stand or walk. I took pain killers and muscle relaxers and eventually was put on a table with straps around my rib cage and more straps around my hips and then tension was put on the straps pulling my body and stretching my spine. This helped relieve the pain and eventually the disc moved so it was not pinching the sciatic nerve. I have to also be careful not to aggravate my spine. The degeneration is just part of my aging so I will take it. Prayers and hugs are being sent to you for a quick recovery and a Blessed Holiday Season. Hugs,Barba

Thankfully this is not Sciatica, which Mum tells me is excruciating. If it is like what I've got well then I really know what she has been through. That's what I would feel like Barba hanging from the doorway, but the muscle is pulled. I think it will be just rest, relaxing and gentle bum massage! Love Chris

Dear, dear Chris. I do so feel for you. You can't keep going like this and living on pain killers. I know you need them now, but I do so hope they can find the 'root' of your problem and really find something to help 'fix' you. You are right about, if no one else will say it, our bodies will say it, by slowing us down.
I was eating lunch today and looking at the young workers. They moved so easily, without thinking. I hurt my back a while ago, by just taking the clothes out of the washer and bending over to load them in the dryer. Yesterday, after stepping 2 steps out the Pharmacy to get meds for bronchitis, my knee gave way.
Yes, we feel and we do, have to help our families. Sometimes though, it is to our expense. Our grown kids still think we can 'do it all' and we sure don't want to let anyone down!-lol-
I'm glad your daughter is helping you but when I read your edit, you're not doing what I read at the top. You said, doctor said no this no that just relax, and you were going to do as he says......doesn't sound like you're minding very well, by cutting out patterns...really Chris, give yourself some time. You've always led a busy life and I realize its hard for you to just stop. You need to though, to give time to heal.....
Now you know, as much as we all love you, what will our families think, if we leave them at Christmas and all show up to take care of you!.. more than that, what would your family think!-lol

You are right Toogie, I'm my own worst enemy. I can't sit still long enough to do nothing. I must take a leaf from some of our Cuties friends and learn to listen to my body. The only thing is I think I can still do things i did 30 years ago and of course I can't. Growing older is a real drag. Amy was wonderful, but she is such a social butterfly and what with all the planning of the wedding and dealing with some personal issues of her best friend Natalie (the one that had the Brain Aneurism) whilst she was here on Saturday it just didn't go to plan. I know we both have busy lives
Toogie and I'm one to talk and give advice to you, but you think you know your limit's, don't you and when your body doesn't obey you then I suppose I must listen much more carefully. Thank you for being a good friend Toogie and an for being there to listen to me. Tomorrow morning I'm just going to take Mum to the hair dressers for her foils then bring her home. Trevor is going to take me to have the needle in my buttock as I'm not meant to drive after it. I think I'll just coe=me home an have another sleep. Love Chris

Hi Kay, yes, I'm seeing a specialist in placing that needle right in the correct place. The Imaging machines are marvelleous these days. You can actually watch them putting the dye/medication into your muscle/spine whatever. Love Chris

Hi Chris, Sorry to read that you are in such pain, I understand completely! I have a similar problem. The chiro at the clinic where my son works put me on the "rack" to stretch my spine a few months ago. I got a bit of relief from that, but back home now, I go to my regular chiro every 3 weeks for an adjustment, and it's helping. I do my stretches and a few exercises every morning, this also helps. My problem is also scoliosis at the bottom of my spine, and it's getting worse as I get older. I will try to keep away from the orthopaedic surgeon for as long as I can. I hope you get relief from pain soon.

Gosh Chris, I sure hope the cortizone helps. My pain management dr gives me several shot in the back so I can keep going. I know if I get "stuck" in the half bent over position again they are going to talk surgery.
Just don't even want to go there. God be with you. And praying for relief.

I feel for you Chris, the cortisone needles do really hurt mainly because of where they need to be put but if it works the relief is great. Remember they are limited I think it's only 3 or 4 allowed in the one spot. I had them in my shoulder and knee cap after mishaps at work. Think positive. Marian

I do hope they work for me Marian otherwise I won't be going down to Canberra for Christmas. I told Trev he can go and I'll just stay home and relax. Mum had them too and she said the first one worked really well, but subsequent ones didn't. Love Chr

Chris, wish with all my heart there was something I could do or say to help you. Believe me I know what debilitating pain is. Have they done a C. T. Scan or MRI on you to see what is pinching the Sciatic nerve? I pray diligently for you. Years ago Ron had a problem similar to this. The surgeon went in and freed the Sciatic nerve by putting a notch in the bone and freeing the nerve. It was like instant relief for him and he has never since had any problems in that area. He was in Hosp 3 days but now I understand they can do the something with a laser and it's an overnight thing. Pain can make a different person out of you. Please try to do as you are being told. Cutting out dresses is not something you should be doing. It puts your back in an angle it does not need to be in. Love you dearly and am so sad you're having to go through this. Lillian

Hi Miss Lillian, I've had the MRI for an hour and the first half an hour there was no music, but I fell asleep during it, which the nurse says very rarely happens. During the second half hour I listened to some Fleetwood Mac, some Neil Diamond and some Beatles. Thank God I'm not claustrophobic as Mum said she would never have another one as she couldn't stand having the machine so close to her. I think tomorrow the scan will pinpoint where to put the Cortisone needle. I was standing when cutting out the dresses Lillian so it didn't hurt. It hurts when sitting down for any length of time - so I'll finish now my friend. Prayers for you all, love Chris

Hi

My prayers are with you. When I was in a lot of pain they gave a long lasting injection (anti-inflammatory and otherr stuff) which helped for about 4 months before I had to go back. They had to give the injection while I was in a machine showing them exactly where they injected me.

Ask them about that? It was done in hospital.

My prayers are with you - I sincerely hope this injection you received will take the pain away for a long time, if not forever.

My prayers are with you.

Hugs (carefully given not to hurt you!)
Anneliese
