akabowers, WELCOME to the 'CUTE' family - I don't have your machine, however I have a Babylock and that is supposed to be a sister to your Brother - Hehehe! When I want a new font that isn't coming from a designer - one that I want to use in my machine to created lettering - I download the font to my desktop - then I got to the START button of Windows and left click and go to CONTROL panel - once the control panel is open - I will see where the FONT folder is - and then will highlight the FONT that I placed on my desktop and using the curser drop it into my FONT fold - now this font is in my fonts for everything on my PC - my WORD - my email and most of all my program that I use with my embroidery machine - you will be able to notice if it is there by your drop down box of fonts that you use when doing lettering or monograms. Not sure on that machine my freind has one i can ask her next we speak. I have the 1500D and i havent added a font or tried but if you have a design transfer ( pe design) you can type what you want and save it to the card and do it that way. Or if that machine has a computer transfer you can link it up with your PC and send it that way( which is what i do if i want something differnt to whats on the machine) Other than that have a read of your instruction book when all else fails hehehe but i will ask for you ok good luck :) * 4 U

OK, I don't have the same machine as you do, but I do know that it is the same as any other machine when it comes to fonts and alphabets. That is the first thing you need to know about. What you are calling "fonts" are in fact alphabets. That is, they are designs that just happen to be in the form of letters. Your machine won't/can't recognize them as anything else. That is why you will only be able to sew them out "one at a time" unless you use software to combine multiple letter designs into a word on your computer and save it as a single design BEFORE you send the design to your machine. The embroidery machine does not have RAM (random access memory) that you could save an actual font onto so that you could "type" words onto your machine and then sew out words, and so such fonts are not even created. It is MUCH more difficult to create a font than it is to digitize an embroidery design. If you want to email me, add @xmission.com to my user name here. I will be happy to answer any other embroidery questions you may have, or fill in details on this one. ***** By the way, what Shirlene was describing is how to add a True Type Font to your computer, not anything to do with your embroidery machine. True Type Fonts are not embroidery designs and can never be embroidery designs UNLESS you have an autodigitizing program with the capability of converting them to stitches (this is not something that all autodigitizers do, and those that do have it tend to only do a fair job of approximation with some TTFs and a horrid mess that is not workable at all with others).

What Cutiepie is saying is true. The only way you can get new fonts to embroider is to have a digitizer which can convert any fonts to a design automatically, and yes, you do have to be careful because not all fonts autodigitize well or get a programme like Zoner Draw in which you can create a word using any fonts you have downloaded on your computer, eg the moonstar font,, make it bigger, then save it as a JPEG and import it into your digitizer and manually digitize the word.
