Apologies that I have been unable to be here recently, family and life are the reason. I have mentioned here before that my embroidery machine was a gift from a very longstanding friend. Sadly her house has been badly flooded in the severe weather that some parts of the UK have suffered. There have been many pictures in the media of the flood waters in York where she lives. I will be making her some cushions to replace the ones she has lost but I expect that it will be a long while before they are back home

I feel so bad for all the people that are suffering from the strange weather. So much destruction. I hope she will get lots of support. You are a great friend.

We have so much bad weather in the USA also, tornadoes and flooding. Do people in the UK have flood insurance? It is very expensive here. Kay

Dear Caroline, I have been thinking so much about you and I had wondered if you were safe from the floods. I am so terribly sorry to hear about your friend. Having had my own house flooded Some years ago I know how long and how miserable the cleaning processes can be. I am still in Jhb but will write to you on my return. Regards to the family. Hugs Sarah.

Thank goodness for friends! Thanks to her generosity to you, she will have help in restoring her home. I grieve for all who have experienced this terrible flooding and now have to struggle to restore a home and its belongings.

This has to be so heartbreaking and devastating to see all your things ruined. I am so glad you are doing something for them. You have a good heart and will be blessed/Lillian

I too looked up some video of the area when Sue mentioned the flooding. The waters were raging. I wonder if this has happened before in the area. We have many communities near rivers and on flood plains. It has only been the last decade that they are seriously removing homes from these dangerous places.
