Well, I've been good, really I have and I am not gonna cry!..<br /><br />
I went for my follow up check up today. It has been 2 whole weeks yesterday, since my accident. I asked Dr why my leg still burned on side of my knee and was still purple there. <br /><br />
They had re-xrayed when I got there so he went to take another look. I asked him also to look, because hospital said my leg had been broken before and healed a long time ago.I told him I think if I broke it, I would have remembered, he just nodded and smiled.<br /><br />
I told him I've been married 47 years, my husband and I know I didn't break it since I married. I ask my older sister if I had ever broke my leg and she said no. The only thing I could think of, when I was a young child I fell on the railroad tracks. I have scars on my knees where the gray, sharp, rocks were imbedded in my knees. My sister and a cousin carried me to my g-mothers, where they washed the rocks out and blood off. If I broke it then, I never went to the doctor. Nobody did back then. <br /><br />
He looked, there was an old break....there also is a new'crack' in my fibia, supposedly the hospital missed.. That's why the side, below my knee still hurts. Both the tibia and the fibia are broke at the top under the knee...so I stay in the chair and go back in 3 more weeks.....<br /><br />
I have about 45 sick days I have to take, before the school will give me 60 extended sick days, so if it takes that long, I should be covered till the end of this school year, I think.<br /><br />
Like I said, I got my chin up and I'm not gonna cry, I'm too stubborn-lol

Sure hope everything heals alright and it doesn't help a bit to cry. Just makes your eyes puffy and red. Hang in there and keep that chin up. Juanita

That's right Juanita, crying stops my nose up, then I will have a cold or sinus troubles, to boot! I'll be as stubborn as my older sister when mamma use to whip/spank her. Sis would burst wide open (just a saying, not really) before she'd let mamma see her cry! STUBBORN-LOL

Thank you Chris and I to you. How are you? I still am on my first bottle of pain meds. I try to tolerate as much as I can, it makes me sick stomach. The med for nausea makes me sleep, so.....

No, not hardly-lol She has been at her dads since Christmas evening. You know she will be ten years old tomorrow!? Doesn't seem possible.

dear Toogie, sometimes crying can give a good feeling. So if you want, just do. Hope you heal completely, in the meantime, take it easy and try to behave. Hugs, love and prayers for you.

Thanks for the 'squeeze'!-lol- I got on (talked to) my 13 & 15 year old grands today, to help their mom, till her husband comes back from work Friday. I told them I CAN"T help her like I was planning to and she still needs help. (Remember she broke her left shoulder and right foot, 8 days before me)

Boohoo! I'll cry with you. I'm so sorry it is taking so long for you to heal. I know you have to be frustrated and tired of it by now. It was explained to me last week when I went in for my check up on my ankle that cracks don't always show up on an x-ray until there is calcification (healing). Hang in there and keep that chin up. Vent whenever you want, we are here with arms to surround you and prayers going up.

No consolation at all that you were right, huh? So glad you have days to cover you as long as it takes - never heard of a school giving "extended days", but when I taught I taught in the Southeastern US! I know it's hard to feel it right now, but you are blessed in your employee situation. Keep being a good girl and ask if you should be eating or taking extra calcium. We'll cover the prayer list part.

I am taking the extra calcium..hope it helps...Didn't do the Reclast IV once a year when offered, but with all the negativity about it, didn't want to make things worse.

Yes, I am glad too. I have been trying to save my sick days as I need to work 4 more years, after this school year, to get my full retirement pay. If I use them all now, and I will have to in order to get the extended leave, I will start next school year with the 10 they give each year. You know my health hasn't been the best. Three years ago hospitalized with double pneumonia and 2 yrs hospitalized twice with unknown, high fever for a month, CDC closed gov'm shut down.

Oh, bless you, Toogie!! It is okay to cry - I would be. I feel like crying for you! Let it out - you have the right to cry.... you will feel better! My son broke his leg in two places a couple of years ago - they didn't find the breaks until about 3 weeks later (I believe it was due to swelling.). You will get through this - you have to be very very patient!! Do what the doctor says!! Hugs, Laura*

I think that must be why they didn't see the fibula broke, at first, b/c of swelling....

Awe Toogie, I feel your pain. Not the physical, but the mental part. I think it is much harder to be injured that it is to be "sick", especially when the injury compromises your mobility (and you are one busy lady!!!). Best thing to do is try to heal properly and completely so you can get back on your feet (healthy) as soon as possible and avoid further setbacks. Good luck, and keep us posted on your progress.

Oh my Toogie. I am sorry. I am though, a firm believer that God has reason for everything. Perhaps you simply needed a reason to rest a while. You are settled with hour job so no worry about that . Control your pain as best you can, mind the Dr. Try to stay off it as much as possible so it will heal. Our pastor broke both of those bones back before Christma . He had to have surgery and now has a rod in his le . You are much better off than he was. God Bless you/Lillian

Yes, I know I am thankful they decided not to do surgery. I have osteoporosis bad, so didn't want to try a plate.....I just want to heal good and be old self again, use it good again..

Thanks Sarah, I pretty much have to take it easy.My furniture needs dusting, bathrooms :( I haven't said a word, but hubby did mop floors today. His sister offered to come on her day off and do bathrooms, so I'm at the point I think I'll let her. One of my SIL's offered to come mop, on her day off but I have flooring everywhere! I thanked her and now he's got it done.

Aw Toogie I am so sorry to read this posting about your knee. I can see it was a couple weeks ago so I am sure you have adjusted to the chair somewhat & I pray that your knee heals properly. A funny thing them saying you broke it many years ago, same thing happened to hubs & even his mom has no recollection of him breaking his. Your right going to hospital back then just wasn't done unless it was dire. We heal regardless I guess. Prayers for speedy recovery. ~hugs~

I remember when I fell when I was little how bad it hurt, so if I can remember that for back,lol, you know it must have been hurt bad. My moms people are all dead so can't ask but my sis is 4 years older and she said she don't know of me breaking it before. ..I guess it will remain a mystery.Thanks for your prayers.
