I'm so sorry you had such a long and difficult time with this project. But it was worth the effort. Well done.

It is lovely. I bet there is burr in the needle. Sometimes the needles are defective. It feels wrong to switch a new for another new needle, but if it fixes the problem...
Better luck next time with that thread.

Well, despite your problems, it looks great...is it one color that is giving you problems or all of them? Sometimes you get a bad spool or a part of the spool is not good...and black is known to shread more than some other colors because it takes more dye that can weaken the thread..

I didn't know that about the black, it was 2 colours playing up, machine all cleaned up & ready for tomorrow, thanks, Jean

It still looks very pretty on the front and that's what counts, right? Put a line of waterproof glue over those loose threads to keep them from easing through to the front over time. Be careful not to get it on the fabric where it will soak through to the front.

It is cute and what an effort to stitch it out!

I left a comment for you in the Community section under your post there.

My good friend just got a Westie! So, I'm collecting Westie design for her right now.

That just happened to me yesterday. Took hours to stitch something out that should have taken 30 minutes. New needle did not solve the problem.

Frustrating when things like this happen and sometimes it is so hard to figure out what is happening. Do you know the old tip,"Trouble on top, problem on bottom. Trouble on bottom, problem on top." I always start with it when thing are going wrong and usually it helps.
Your design is cute anyway and the back won't show!!She is sure to love anything with "Her" puppy on it.

Yes, my teacher taught upper tension is lower tension, so when you reset the bobbin, rethread the top, too.

Thanks for the tip, Jean xx

I know this is silly, but when I have this kind of trouble I change the needle , change the the thread, and change the bobbin and keep on stitching and do not worry which one caused the problem! Kay

I have a bad white spool of thread and learned to lower my top tension whenever I use it. Also a new needle can still be the culprit. It turned out though and is very cute.

Some days nothing at all works. I also had problems with my machine thread tension. Took me hours, until everything was ok again.
