Is it still under warranty? The case should not be moving. Also from what I can read that there are a lot of problems with the tension. Hopefully someone will have some ideas. Is it only the sound or is it creating birds nests also?

I think your bobbin base may be inserted wrong, take it all the way out and clean underneath with a small brush to get rid of any lint and fuzz, you need to do this regularly anyway, use your manual and look up how to insert the bobbin case and make sure it is threaded correctly. The bobbin case should not move and wiggle around.

Hello ! Welcome ! I have a brother too, but different type. Like bevintex wrote : check if the case is inserted ok, or else, my brother has 2 different cases, one if you use the original brother threads and one for other type of threads. Check if you use the correct one. Good luck

I can only say welcome, and agree with the others; is there still warranty? And if not, all suggestions about the bobbin and bobbin case are good. Have you tried the special bobbin thread, I know brother machines have issues with the bobbin thread when these are common thread. Hope it will be fixed soon.

If you can't figure it out, you'll need to take it to the dealer. You might ask if they have any classes you can take. Usually the classes are free with a new machine. I had my new Bernina one week before the motor got wonky and had to be taken back to the dealer.

Welcome to Cute! I have a Brother too and wonder like others have said if the bobbin is inserted correctly. On my machine the thread tail comes out on the left. A warm welcome to the Cute family. I don't know if you bought it from a dealer, but I would certainly contact a dealer and ask for help. It may be a simple fix if you ask. Please keep asking questions. We all learn when someone asks for help.

A big Aussie welcome from me too. I've got a Brother Quattro Innovis Eye 6700D and I have to use only the larger bobbin spools. I've also got a Husqvarna Designer 1 SE and that bobbin is smaller. Once I put the wrong bobbin in my Hus and it made a bird's nest. So like the others have said make sure it is sitting in the bobbin case securely. You can take the whole casing out and clean it out and replace it ensuring the thread is going the correct way. There is a right and wrong way, which I found out by the way. Read as much as possible and ask as many questions as you need to, there is always someone around who is willing to help out. Sounds as though the bobbin case is not fitted correctly it should not move.Where do you live, perhaps you can call the dealer where it was bought, if it was a private sale, dealers will always help you with information. If you determine bobbin is being set in the right direction, check with dealer about brand of bobbins to use. Some machines are very picky about this, and I think Brother is one of these. I recommend compressed air (about $7-8 in US) to clean lint out from the area. I've been using the same can more than a year, and I stitch several hours per day! Welcome to Cute.

Yes, there is a little 'wiggle' to the bobbin case. I have a brother and a babylock machine. It almost sounds as if the bobbin is the wrong size. I would say the 400 takes an A, which is what the 270 takes. There should be a picture in the manual which you can check to see if the size looks the same. I have L bobbins left over (slightly thinner) from my ellageo, and put a dime under them to let them work with the 270.
Still, the best thing is to ask your dealer.

welcome to Cuties, Also unscrew your plate and see if you can see any stray threads and clean any fluff that you can see. If you are filling your own bobbins make sure you trim the thread where you first place it around the bobbin. When you place your bobbin case back into your machine make sure the white dot on the bobbin case matches up with the white dot on your machine. I don't know if this applies to your Brother, check to see if you have an alternate bobbin case for non brother threads. It has a blue or purple dot on the silver part of your bobbin. Don't give up

I am guessing you've cleaned any dust from the throat plate/bobbin area as per the other suggestions by Cuties as well as making sure you've set the bobbin in the correct position and the thread is caught in the bobbin tension. In our sewing group there are usually women that I or another sewist help with all the problems that occur. Most of the time their thread and stitching problems stem from badly wound bobbin, their thread 'hops' out of the upper tension and thread guides or their upper threads get caught around their thread pin holders which causes the threads to break. One other factor I can think of that causes a mess in the bobbin area 'nesting' is not enough upper thread is pulled through the needle at the beginning of stitching. Make sure you have a thread 'tail'--possibly holding onto this tail--take a few stitches to lock it into the fabric, then trim the excess thread tail and continue on with your sewing. There are so many things that a person has to pay attention to. I hope this or any other tips the Cuties have given help you out. Correct bobbins and needles are key also.

I have a HUS, but the sound you describe is what happens when i get too much fuzz, lint or even a small stray clipped thread into areas that need to be kept clean. I was always told never to use canned air as it can push lint even further into the machine, but to instead use a small brush and I also use q-tips to reach into small areas and will wipe around the inside of the bobbin case and then also around the whole bobbin area and have been surprised at the amount of fuzz I can pick up from even areas that did not look like there was any build up. I also have an area with a compartment I can open that even a single tiny thread will cause what you are describing but should also say you should let the dealer show you how to access those areas if you have them on your machine. Good cleaning will help to prevent many embroidery machine frustrations.
