I would like to know, What is the largest bag you can make with the metal ruler snap? Or does it matter? I made one around nine inches out of rubber like nylon material, and the snap wouldn't close. Thanks Sandy

Maybe you've answered the question for us. Try 8 inches?

I do not know the answer, but usually see them on a smaller scale than 9 inches.

mostly I see them used for coin pouches usually less than 6 inches

Never I did see a site where the lady used in a larger bag and this is most likely what lilylady saw too. To me the tape would have to be wide and stiff.

I was hoping for a larger size, but why waste time if its not going to work. Thanks

it probably depends on the quality of the ruler, some are stronger than others

I think trial and error is the answer! The wider tape measures should be able to cope with a bigger size.

Sandy, I personally haven't tried these, but I know where you're coming from, as I saw a handbag with one for closure. The lady said she used a wide tape measure, but some are stiffer than others. I know we have a wider one here ( among others) that is flimsier than some. Very limber, so much so, that it won't retrack well and should be discarded. The fact that it isn't stiff discourages me from using it for a project like yours. Sorry that you have had this trouble. I know it's so disappointing. Hugs-Toogie

Well, I agree with others...depends upon the stiffness of the ruler....and do you have them flexing the proper way...

I am hoping you got this fixed and can tell us what you learned. I have some of the metal ruler and have plans to make a snap purse. Thanks!
