They are restructuring because of filing, but 70 of 263 stores in 37 states is what will close.

Is there a list of the stores that are closing? I have to drive 40+ miles now. I hope that one is not on the list.

I couldn't find the list. They filed the same thing 11 years ago and restructured.

Via their Facebook page -- they have a toll free number you can call for restructuring information.

They did this about 8 years ago. Something must not be right about how the main office does business...they work with skeleton crews and under-paid employees.

Yes, the last time I was in one of their stores there was no assistance at all. They had bolts stacked over our heads on the wall. My friend and I finally pushed a rolling ladder and climbed up and got down the bolts we wanted to see. The employees were not happy campers. Kay

According to Google, they are restructuring, so 70 of their 263 stores will close to help make the remaining stores and their online business profitable. What is sad is when the one near you closes, like already happened to me So, some of us will be more affected than others by this - unless, of course, they go completely out of business. Judy

All I can say is, if they completely close, I take no responsibility. I have done my part and more to keep them open!

A friend just called me and said today is the last day for the 2 stores in our area. I can't believe it they just opened one a about a yr and a half ago on my side of the city. I live in New Kent, Va, just east of Richmond.

This is horrible news! I hope the restructuring works and the people affected get their needs met.

I will be going through withdrawals. Besides Hancocks, we do not have another fabric store closer that 80 miles from where I live.

Sadly, a fabric store near my home is closing their doors. It was the place I found all sorts of high quality fabrics for upholstery, draperies and other such fabrics. I will really miss that store! I used their fabrics for many things -- including their vinyl and suede for embroidery. I must not have shopped there enough.
Thankfully the Hancock's store near me will still be open. I am sure my "stash" has contributed to all the Hancock stores in my state remaining open. ;)

Was in Tulsa, Ok yesterday and the lady said they were filing chapter 11. Thank goodness they're not closing!
