Hi gals, thanks for all the prayers today. i was just reading megs post and was surprised to see amy said i was feeling sick. nothing could have been further from the truth. I went down at 8.00 had the canula put in my arm of which i didn't feel. the anaesthetist asked me to roll over onto my tummy and i got the giggles as the blue gown you have to wear opened right down the back exposing by buttock. i told him i didn't care as i have no modesty after having surgeries throughout my life and it didn't matter. he placed 2 pillows under my front and i laid my head down on the pillow looking at the canula and the next thing i know i'm being woken up in recovery - all done, it was over. I wasn't sick, felt wonderful came up to my room, had a cup of my favourite tea Rooibos with vanilla and ate some jatz crackers and cheese. i got up and had a wee on my own, without the aid of a stick. i'm in a bit of pain, but that is because i've been cut. the pain i was having before was excruciating nerve pain. i've had my evening meds and am waiting for the saline/glucose and other mineral drip to finish which won't be until nearly midnight. if i want to go to the toilet i have to take the drip and a bag that has a drain coming from my bursa scar and the nurse has to help me to the toilet with that. I had these blow up leg things on that pumped air and by around 5.00pm i asked to have them taken off as i was perspiring so much, even the sheet near my scar was wet with perspiration. mind you it's been hot here in newcastle, the hospital is air conditioned but i have a fan in my room. my temp is normal and my bp is around 140/64. My sugar levels - glucose was 5.5 and still i'm hot. i'm feeling quite normal now that all that stuff is off. anyway i just wanted to thank you for all of your prayers, i certainly was very calm today. makes a huge difference, i prayed for the medical team and nurses as well. all the family have sent sms messages and rung me. meg is coming in to see me tomorrow and amy comes in every afternoon. sorry about no capitals i'm typing this lying down in bed and it's uncomfortable. love to all chris

That is wonderful to hear the surgery went well and you are feeling ok. It is amazing you can be in hospital and be able to come and visit here too. Modern technology is great isn't it? Make sure to rest while you have help on hand. Hugs from WA

Hi Soozie, I hope it's beautiful up there in Port Macquarie. It's been a bit hot I believe down here, but of course being in hospital I'm not aware of outside conditions. It's very sterile in here, but doesn't smell like a hospital. I'm on the mend and can walk comfortably. Sitting isn't too bad, but I'm still a bit sore, so am taking it really easy. Love Chris

Thankful for the good news. The appendages will soon be gone and that helps with the recovery. Be good - no dancing down the halls.

OK had to have a laugh as I pictured Chris dancing down the halls with her blue gown flapping in the breeze-Dancing with her IV pole through the hospital corridors LOL - Oh shame on me for the thought, though that may help other patients have a laugh through their hospital stay.
by pennifold 09 Mar 2016
You are not half wrong there Pam, I had all my backside exposed when lying on the hospital bed waiting to go into surgery. I didn't care as they've seen it all before, although mine might be a bit more developed than some he he he! Love Chris
by pennifold 09 Mar 2016
Yes Helen, I've got rid of all the attachments and I'm walking freely. So much better than I thought. Love Chris

Thanks for the update. Great to hear you are doing so well. I hate those blow up leg things. I had to have them on all night when I had my last op. They took them off hubby just after he came out of recovery. Different hospitals, different ideas I guess. I will keep you in my prayers. Hugs Shirley

Yes Shirley they are annoying. I only had mine on for about 8 hours and as I was sweating so much they removed them. I don't even have on the socks anymore! They are all amazed at how well I am, I'm not. I know all the prayers from everyone on here as helped me come through this so well. Love Chris

Such happy news! Many prayers are continuing from around the world, for your poor back side, and all of your other body parts for that matter too. ;) Won't be long that you are down in bed but if it is too long or difficult with the lap top in bed, then to type more easily laying down, they make lap top cooling trays that adjust the angle of the lap top and give the underside of the lap top air flow so to prevent over heating, but using one of these trays is how I always use my lap top as all my posts are from laying in the bed, they are at all the computer stores from as low as $10-$15. But hoping that now that the bursa has been removed, that within just a few days you are not going to need to be laying in a bed to use your lap top. But if the only issue that you are having is making capitol letters, then hopefully you won't bother, as we are all able to understand your message just fine. (((Huge Hugs))) and keep healing and following your doctors orders! and I am still getting a smile each time I think of you in your hospital gown, dancing down the hospital halls with your IV pole and your hospital gown blowing in the breeze . Yes, I know you did not do that but this was the visual I had of you after reading heleninca's comment for you not to be dancing in the halls. Hope it gives you a smile too! Pam

by pennifold 09 Mar 2016
Yes, Pam it did. There is no privacy when you are in hospital and I've been in a few times not to even worry about that state of affairs anymore. I always think of the movie with Jack Nicholson when he was walking away from Dianne Keaton and his backside was showing at the back of his gown. There are a lot of those gowns here at the moment. Quite a lot of surgery has been done over the past 2 days. I'm going home on Friday with some pain relief and a couple scripts which will help to alleviate the pain in the bursa area. I don't have that horrible nerve pain anymore, so it's just a matter of my upper inside thigh where the bursa was removed to heal. I imagine I'll be back in a few days to have the stitches removed. Then it will be house arrest! I've got some sewing projects to do, but again it will depend on how comfortable I'll feel at the sewing machine. Thanks for all your love, prayers and concerns. Love Chris
