I am looking for zip pulls for my suitcase. Living in S. Africa I have not been able to get. Does anyone have any brilliant idea what I could use instead. DH tried a piece of wire but it nearly cut my fingers off trying to pull it. The zip still works perfectly but it is difficult to close and open without something to hang on to. Any suggestions will be greatfully received.
Update
I have made these this morning. They are great as I can take them off and use them on other broken zips. Thank you all for your suggestions and help

Have you got any type of ribbon that you could stitch together to give you a stronger piece to pull through. Maybe some sort of soft suede or leather. You would need to make it so that you could loop it through the zipper and turn it back on itself. That's all I can think of at the moment. Good luck Sarah. Love Chris

Well, who knew a paper clip, a bit of clam shell plastic and some scotch tape was such a great fix!!!
Thank you. I also watched some other ideas and I think I know what I am going to do.

If for only short time or needed immediately try a piece of elastic tied into a loop and attached through zipper. I use some rounded elastic with a bead on the end, works like a dream. You can buy cord ends at the fabric stores. Hope this helps a little. Marian

Hi, you can always try a key ring that has something attached to it. Hugs Maureen

You could use a lobster claw from the jewelry findings section of the craft store and add some other charm or even an embroidered tag to that. Good luck. Nan W

What if you contacted the manufacturer? They might provide replacement in the exact color, and who knows, maybe conplimentary.

The suitcase was still under guarantee when the first zip pull sheared off. I contacted them and they said it was wear and tear. The second one broke off just after the guarantee ran out. Laziness on my part to follow up I am afraid.

Try a metal Curtain ring worked for my son on his leather motor bike jacket.

I was going to suggest a key ring with a snap tab that would help you identify your bag but I see you already have some good ideas here.

wow!, I'm thinking some sort of leather key fob. I think leather would carry the weight. Do you have carry cases for your machines? If so borrow the pulls. Perhaps your shoe shop repair could help you. Kay

I found a bunch of stuff on Amazon that would solve your problem. Maybe you have something like it in your country.
