Hi Sarah I bought a can of the SK-100 and from my experience will not to use it again on my home embroidery machines. Perhaps it will work on the industrial kind? The glue is thick and sticks all over. It is also a yellowish color. I see on the can it mentions that it is water resistant. I also thought of replacing the 505 but now uses it to glue paper etc. Where possible I use double sided tape instead of the glue that way I save a bit.

I saw a hint to use washable glue sticks (the kind they have for children's art projects) I've done this a few times and have had no problems so far. They are handy and you don't get any over-spray with a stick.

I actually use the Elmers spray adhesive out of the arts and craft section. It's only $5 a can and doesn't leave everything gooey. I stopped using the basting spray because it stuck to everything. And honestly the 505 spray is just too pricey.

505 is crazy expensive wherever you live. I bought a big can of it, but didn't use it. I just hoop the stabilizer and pin my fabric to it almost all the time. I use something called Tempo Spray that I got online somewhere. I saw the 505 can sitting there one day and picked it up and it was empty! Apparently, it evaporated away!

yes, I have used this for many years and always buy it as sale or reduce prices. sometime different sites will offer a special. I think it is mfg in France or Italy. Kay

I buy 505 adhesive from Sewing Machine.com and wouldn't use anything else. I also often pin, rather than spray.

I use Sulky KK2000 spray WHEN I need spray adhesive----but I use VERY LITTLE and I use it VERY SELDOM----if you use a lot it WILL GUM UP YOUR NEEDLE-----I use mainly Sulky Sticky Self-Adhesive Tear Away stabilizer---it eventually will gum the needle---but I do more towels than anything else---but the spray I use SELDOM---good luck and God bless you.

even though it is expensive I would buy a can anyway, you know it works well and it lasted over 2 years so when you divide the cost over 24 months it is not so bad after all. Consider the el cheapo that gums up the works,yellows and in the end goes into the trashcan the 505 is actually a good buy. Does the place you buy from ever offer coupons or have sales? That would be the time to buy.

Hi Sarah, SK-100 too sticky and not the same. Agree that 505 is not affordable in our part of the world with our exchange rate. Tried various other methods, glue sticks, double sided craft tape, masking tape as I cannot afford 505 any more! Good luck!

I use three different types of 'glue'. 1) children's glue stick in purple/blue or clear Very cheap 2) blue or pink tubes that go in a pink pen holder - a bit dear 3) spray basting temporary glue - use a tiny little bit - do not recall cost as I bought it for a box making thing many years ago.
All three work well - but I am very sparing in the application of the glue. I use just enough to hold the item in place then I walk away from it for five minutes and it holds beautifully while I struggle with manoeuvring the hoop in place. :-)
