Janome 500e owners... Do I need to register a new hoop to my machine so it recognises what hoop I have on there?
I have just bought a 5 x 7 hoop which I want to use but when I open the design on the machine it thinks it is going to embroider on the 8 x 8 hoop. I don't want to break my machine if it stitches in the wrong place.

Hi sewmum1, I've added hoops to my Husqvarna machine by going into my 5D programme, so I am assuming you can do it to Janomes. Have you tried checking in your operating manual, if not on YouTube, or where you bought the machine from? I know there a few Janome users on here and I know Sue uses Janomes. So I'm sure you will get lots of help. Love Chris

Thank you. I couldn't find my manual when I wrote this and I think I was using the wrong search words as very little useful information was coming up.

Look in the edit screen and choose the hoop icon. Is your new hoop there? I had the same experience when I bought a new hoop for my machine and I admit that I cannot remember what I did about it!

Hmmm, I know that for my BabyLock Ellisimo, when there are new hoops and features, there is a software download for the machine (using a USB stick) on the BabyLock site that upgrades the machine to accommodate the new items...perhaps Janome does the same thing (?)....

Yes this is what I expected and could find info on, but looks like I don't need to with this machine. Thank you

Sewmum1 I havent received my machine yet...but as far as I can see from the instructions video on youtube, you just need to go
to the edit window choose the hoops icon and select the hoop size you want from the list of available hoop sizes (all the sizes for mc500e are already given in the list)!
I think it must be similar to how we do it in mc350e!
Let us know what worked for you :)
