Morning Cuties, I've finished Ophelie's 6th birthday dress. I started it on Thursday at the Newcastle Sewing Guild and finished it this morning (Saturday). We're just off to watch Ryke play in his Rugby game at 11.30 and then I'm going to a Fashion Parade at 1.00. Nice and cool and slightly overcast today, my type of weather.

This pattern is from Ainslee Fox designs and it's called the Disco Dress (my personal favourite). Hope everyone will have a wonderful weekend of sewing! Love Chris

1. Dress lying on the floor. I've used a soft mint green for the top bodice, a pretty pink pin spot for the main bodice and a beautiful off white little pink grub rose with leaves for the skirt. I put the green edging on to match the top bodice. I then added two lots of ribbons and sewed them together! Amy has a full petticoat that I bought for Ophelie which will go underneath the skirt. The width of the skirt is about 85 inches!!!!

Thanks so much, yes it's part of the top bodice pattern. Makes it a beautiful dress. You can of course make this in one, two or three fabric choices. I prefer the three as I think it's great for contrast. Love Chris

This is such a beautiful twirling dress! I love your use of colors and fabrics, and the ribbons are all just perfect and fun! She will LOVE it.

Chris, I am so sorry I missed that you have been ill. I guess that must have happened while I have been recovering from my surgery. What happened? I'm glad you are getting better. I'm also just getting back to my machines. Love you, Jan

Thanks Jan, yes, I can just see Ophelie in this. We will be with her on Friday so I'll get some pictures if I can. And yes, I was ill whilst you were recovering from your surgery. I've had Trochanteric Bursitis on the top of my right thigh. It was near the Gluteus Minimus muscle two away from the hip bone! I'm going into hospital again on Thursday for another Caudal block to help relieve some of the pressure, feeling so much better than I did a few months ago though. I'm hoping you are doing better too, I've seen what you've had to go through. God bless you, love Chris
by hightechgrammy 13 Apr 2016
I have had bursitis in that exact location, so I know how bad that can hurt. I hope you will get the relief you need soon. You have too much to do to mess around with pain. I found out today I have severe carpal tunnel and Dupuytren's contracture in my palm. I think it is a simple day surgery for both! God bless YOU too, Jan
by crazypatchmama 16 Apr 2016
Am praying for healing for both of you, You are such an inspiration for me to carry on. thank you,

Thanks Monika, can't wait to give it to her tomorrow. She is having an ice-skating party at 4.30 till 6.30. I'm making a big fruit platter for the adults and Amy will make a Zucchini slice without the bacon as a couple of her friends are vegetarians. Now that Ophelie is at school she only gets to wear pretty dresses at parties etc. Love Chris

Thanks Mary, there is always something new to learn too. I learned how to do the top of the lining so that the zip wouldn't catch. I've been doing it a certain way for years and one of our Sewing Guild ladies is a Design and Technology teacher at our senior Catholic college here in Newcastle (where our children went to school) and she showed me how to do it. I was really chuffed. Little tricks of the trade are always wonderful to learn. Love Chris

Chris- Sorry I missed this when you had first posted- This is such a beautiful twirly dress that most young girls would just love to pieces. I am sure this was a big hit along with the full petticoat to go under it, which makes them feel like a little princess would. Great choice of pattern and materials. So glad you are doing better than you had been health wise, and hoping this next procedure will give even more relief to you. Thank you for all your sharing your family with your cute family also.
