Thank you so much. To be honest, I tried the CD designs on my scraps. The fabric is very fine like handkerchiefs...I liked the hand emb better, and although it was very time consuming, it was worth it.

It was not as elaborate as this, but it was what she wanted. She used it for all her kids, too. I should post it, but my photos of it aren't that great.-Toogie

My neck burned for stitching long hours. Oh well, we have this to enjoy and photos of each baby in it.-Toogie

Yes, I did and still remember how my neck burned each night when I fell into bed-lol- I only had a few weeks to make it and most of my supplies I ordered online, like the tatting, fabrics, entredeaux, etc so I had to wait for shipments. Thank you for your appreciation-Toogie

When it comes to heirloom sewing, nothing beats hand embroidery, I agree. It does take more time, but time well spent.
He was so good today and looked just like the baby he is. Precious..

I will be having my first great-grandchild, in a few months time. My daughter has agreed, if my grandson's wife wants to use it for their baby she can. Such a shame to pack it up, and never enjoy seeing another baby wear it. I will probably be dead, before my grand daughter Nora has children to use it.........

You're right about the love sewn into each stitch. If its packed away, until my grand daughter Nora has children, I'm afraid I won't see them wear it. We will see....

Oh Lillian, I think I might cry...thank you. I too hate when parents try to make the babies or toddlers look.....well you know what I mean. One thing good about my daughters, They loved to dress their babies like babies. I was so glad too. Only thing is, sometimes I couldn't keep up-lol- Avery's mom spends hours looking and marking with post-it notes, in my Sew Beautiful magazines, things she'd like made.
She is the one picked this out to be stitched in blue just like in the magazine. I think the article about the pattern, was in Issue #80. I purchased the pattern separately. I purchased these tatting laces from the Smocking Bonnet, if memory serves me, but I would have loved to have been taught tatting by your grandmother!
Avery and Nora both wore Ashley's Feltman Brother dresses, she wore as a baby. I saved them and we still are saving them. My favorite for Ashley was in pale pink, with the tiniest tucks all along the top, of the little dress neck. It was embroidered in white and had scallops of lace, at the hem. The matching slip had them too, but was sleeveless and buttoned at the shoulder. She also had a pink sailor dress trimmed with white, I loved to put on her chubby little body.-lol-Thanks for taking me down memory lane and your sweet comments-Toogie

You're right about it being costly to SEW heirloom, but still cheaper than BUYing heirloom, that is if you can find any. I know my SIL got someone to use their camera & take some pictures for them. I have some of Avery and Nora, when they wore it, so I hope I'll get some of Gus. I had a subscription for Sew Beautiful and always enjoyed my magazines, because you did get full size patterns with them. I especially enjoyed the earlier, heirloom styles and not so much the newer articles.
